No point in trading Lupul unless you can rip a team off with the trade.

Like bringing in a Nash for example....

I dont care about what he was included as. Chara was considered less valueable than Redden at one point. If the talent becomes elite afterwards, that is just as good. I havereally liked Lupul's play this year and I am scared to get rid of him.

Although there is something to be said about buying low and selling high

At 28, there isn't much developing left to do.

If there were any way to acquire a younger big name talent and I had to part with Lupul, he would be gone by now.

The reality is that some players just have star talents and a gamebreaking ability. Those are the elite ones. Some guys can breakout and have the odd 70+ point year, but there is something unquantifiable about real, elite star players.

The whole suggestion is a complete joke.

If it was Lupul + Reimer for Nash, that trade would have been done a nano-second after it was mentioned.

Columbus is shooting way higher.

When you get a chance to grab an elite talent like Nash says it all.. It is such a rare case like you say, how do you think getting the centre is any easier?

Elite or not he has nly gotten 70 points once. If we can't find the elite centre, will he ever become better than a 60 pt player?

- mfreedman

Highly doubt this....but even if he is, it'll still be better than Lupul long term.

Olympic gold medalist.

27 years old.

2 seasons of 40+ goals. 6 seasons of 30+ goals.

Career high 79 points. Career 0.81 points per game.

And no, he has never had an elite centre in Columbus any more than he'd have here. These accomplishments are pretty much his own.

They'd be looking for decent player off the Leafs roster (Grabo, Kulemin, maybe Lupul) + Schenn + a prospect and probably a 1st round pick. Not worth it but that'd be the price I bet. That's why Nash will be going nowhere.

Thank you.

My God, why must we get so attached to our players? Remember when some people scoffed at Kulemin+Kadri for Mike Richards?

Or when some people thought Kaberle + Kadri + Schenn was too much for Getzlaf? Or when Kaberle + Kadri was too much for Corey Perry/Bobby Ryan?

Seems pointless imo. Carter is a better overall player but Lupul has great chemistry with Kessel.

What a poopty broken down play.

It hit Elias who tried to hit it away, hit the back of Greene and laid perfectly on Kessel's stick who banked it off Brodeur and in.

It's one of those are-you-(frank)ing-kidding-me moments....

Agreed, but it is a sideways step imo. Its another 1st line winger to replace our current 1st line winger.

This one gets more production out of Kessel on top of improving his own stats. The addition of NAsh may end up just being NAsh's product plus a worse product in Kessel.

That is why I am worried, not because I am worried about Nash's skill. Is it worth risking the chemistry we have for the same production but less chemistry and an extra piece included? I dont know.

And WOOOO Bozie/Kessel!
