I don’t understand how Howson is expecting to get the world for Rick Nash. He’s got a 7.8 million dollar cap hit, a NMC, and is a 60ish pt player. With the inability to drive up a bidding war, and production that is no where near worth the cap hit, where’s the value for any other GM (lucky enough to be selected by Nash as a potential trading partner) to sell the farm for him, I just don’t get it.

Joe Thornton was traded for Marco Sturm, Wayne Primeau, and Brad Stuart

Mike Richards was traded for Brayden Schenn, Wayne Simmonds, and a 1st

Brad Richards was traded for Mike Smith, Jeff Halpern, Jussi Jokinen and a 4th

Ilya Kovalchuk was traded for Niclas Bergfors, Johnny Oduya, Patrice Cormier and a 1st

And they’re suggesting Kadri, Gardiner/Schenn, Colbourne, and a 1st rounder? (otherwords, basically all of our high end assets)

Looking at what the players above brought back to their respective clubs, does anyone honestly think Rick Nash is worth more than the above mentioned??

I understand Nash has attributes that go beyond his point production, but to me this rumoured asking price is beyond absurd…for any team to pay

Let me help you out here, Jakrabbit.

GMs always put out the word that their guy is worth the moon. It doesn't really have any factor in what the actual price will be.

Reminds me of when I was in Barbados looking at a watch...didn't know much it was so I asked to see it...tells me it's $30,000, so say "no thanks" and suddenly it's $25,000, I say no thanks again, and he drops another $7,000 off it and it's now $18,000....of course I still didn't buy it, but you see the trend.

Started at $30,00 and within 25 seconds he dropped $12,000 off the price.

Hmmmm, i suppose my point would be Burke is a moron. You think 5.5million is too much? Look at what guys are scoring on the free market, look at Connolly and Pleks?.
