I know this is off topic, but did anyone see Adam French's blog about the Coyotes staying in Phoenix?

I would respect Bettman a little bit more if he would just admit his mistakes. this is just downright arrogant. Either move the team, or cut it out of the league. |

Maybe they both have unreasonable salary demands for next year. - Return of the Roar
Duchene has to be kept and could get a big raise but he is Arb. eligible others mentiond are not....But it could be $$ related move... |

I'm actually friends with TJ Brennan. He's told me numerous times he loves Buffalo and never wants to leave. - mochoson
TJ seems to have been lost in the Buffalo D numbers game and it's not fair.
He looked solid when he played with the big club this season.
I, and many others, think Buffalo should get rid of Sekera, Leopold, Weber, and Gragnani, and bring up Brennan and McNabb. |

Since when can you leave your feet to hit someone? That Kesler hit looked pretty dirty to me - Wowo2282
Kronwall went airborne only as he made contact, not before he made contact, and he never came close to the head. I think that's fine. Kesler was just mad that someone caught him with his head down. I had no problem with that hit at all. |

No argument there. I'm kind of surprised that they might be staying and found ownership to operate the team. |

The feeling is mutual. I made sure I saw every game he played this year when he was called up. I thought he looked very, very good.
For his sake, I really hope Buffalo makes some space for guys like him and McNabb, or trade him. McNabb isn't going anywhere, but TJ is older. He's an 07 pick. He could be a full-time NHLer right now, just hasn't been given the extended look. |

JJ- after that hip check last night, i REALLY want to see Bryan Allen in the indianhead. Is StanBo even looking that way or is the price too high? He has been top of my list from the start - ikeane
They like him and have been scouting him and LaRose.

I watched Brennan quite a bit when he was with the Montreal Juniors and met him once. Seemed like a real nice kid with a good head on his shoulders, had a passion for the game and seemed to be developing a solid all-around game. I kind of lost track of his progress post-draft and I'm not really sure what's holding back. |

I think if you upped the pick to a 2nd an objective mind might consider it. Problem is it's two very young players for two middlingly older players.
The deal with Buffalo that I think makes sense is Miller and Myers for Kane and Crawford with picks, a Chicago d-man and/or d prospect involved. But I also think that is only an offseason trade.
The Hawk fans who can't see the value of Miller (bad season this year aside) and Myers need to watch more hockey outside Chicago. - John Jaeckel
Don't see Buffalo giving him up. And we have other holes on our team if we are going to trade Kane. We have Seabrook for 6 mil per to play that role. And that puts us back up to 20 mil for 3 D. Myers is going to get bank. |

He'll get "bank" starting next year. $5.5 million cap hit through 2019.
EDIT: Myers will get $12 million next year with his new deal. |

Miller would not fit the model that Chicago is trying to build around. As for Myers, if I was starting a team today and had to pick 2 defensemen to anchor by blueline today and in the future, they would be Shea Weber and Tyler Myers. That should tell you what I think of him. The scary thing is that I think Ottawa in 2-3 years will have a top pair not too far from that in Karlsson and Cowen. |

Yeah. Didn't have time to look up where he was at.. But it didn't matter. Either he is making bank or was going to. Myers doesn't fit here. We have that guy in Seabrook. Doesn't matter. Stanbo isn't dealing Kane. And Buffalo isn't dealing Myers. |

He finally tasted NHL action this year. He looked good in the games he saw. Buffalo just has way to many NHL dmen. Numbers game at this point. |

I agree on Miller. And although I don't think Myers is yet at where you describe him, I agree he is going to be a monster. If we had no phsyical #1 crease clearing 6 mil per guy player already it would make more sense. When you have a guy like Seabrook you want to use that huge pay slot for another game changer. Like... Kane |

He is a 3rd/4th line center, not a top 6.
Right on with that.
However, he has been effective in the past screening the goalie on the PP.
He has been playing lights out for a while now.
He also was excellent in the playoffs last year against the Flyers.
Probably their best forward in the series.
Mark McNeill and a pick and you have a deal! - kingcong39

I don't think Gausted is worth a 1st for a rental. Nor is he worth a 2nd straight up either. I wouldn't deal anyone Chicago has in the system that is outside of the AHL for a rental.
I'd say an AHL prospect and a mid round pick. - EKolb13
Market value for a 3rd liner is a 2nd round pick. See Dominic Moore a week ago (also see Dominic Moore 2 years ago and 3 years ago). |

I think it IS coaching, the whole team look like a bunch of statues out there on the PP, no movement at all, just pass around the perimeter...wait, pass again...wait, repeat etc. - Ogilthorpe2
I think the PP issues are multiple:
1) Bad Entries - it seems rare that the hawks are able to enter the zone organized, with speed, in control, etc. Even when they dump, the retrievals aren't always a given. Then there is that neutral zone drop pass which just pisses me off.
2) Shots to the Net - as in, not enough of them. Get it on net more often. Shoot it quicker. A shot on net, even if it is not a rocket, is better than a big windup into an opposing team's shin pads.
3) Movement - you are correct. Not a lot of movement going on. Gotta move to get open.
4) Back Door Play - seems like this is the bread and butter and everyone knows it.
5) QB/Point Play - Put 81 back there on one unit. Maybe Leddy on the other unit (he does seem to get his shots on net).
I'd settle for fixing the entry/retieval and more shots on net, that would be a start. |

There have been a number of Post Reports today of people perfectly reasonably posting disagreement on a hockey point. Please, if the person isn't being a troll (posting solely to get emotional response), isn't cursing, isn't attacking other posters or name calling, don't report their posts. If you continue to do so you'll be considered trolling the mods.
Thank you.

Morisson on the top line? Terrible. I'd rather see Kruger with those guys. - furso27
You will, the way Q juggles the lines.. The lines are maybe good for 20mins. |

By next season, I can easily see all of Leopold, Gragnani, and Weber gone, making room for McNabb and Brennan.
They love Sekera while many others don't, but he could be traded as well.
I think the long time in development for Brennan is due to his late start in hockey. I guess he was a lacrosse star when in school. |

It isn't just Duchene that will get a big raise. Ryan O'Reilly, Erik Johnson, Ryan Wilson... They will all demand a good $$$. |

JJ, no response on the guess of McClement? Hes a stud defensive player who is perennial one of those "if the Selke had nothing to do with offensive output, he'd definitely be in consideration" guys. He would look really good as our 4C and take some load off the PKers. He'd be extra valuable in the playoffs as a stopper and extra center who takes faceoffs and then gets off the ice. |

I agree but normally the RFA's aren't the first out the door when not Arb. eligible.... But they have a plan and the players mentioned might not fit.

Gausted is the perfect L3-C. I don't like that move because I don't like Bolland on the 2nd line (on that I think Q is correct). - kwolf68
Because there is a huge sample size available to prove that Bolland couldn't be a legit #2 right? Q's an idiot. |
