Time to call up Colorado and see what it would take to get Stastny?

Can he get to ORD by game time?

I'll take em both.

That would cost a huge package though...probably something like Morin + Lalonde + Pirri + a draft pick or two.

- kwolf68

Should be done. Even at that cost. It clears out some of the upper year prospects to make room for the recent draft picks and college boys and the Hawks can retain both Quincy and Galiardi (who is a takeaway machine btw)

That's a good thing!

Anybody heard if Conklin was claimed off of waivers yet? He might be a good option to stash away in Rockford to have as a "Black Ace" come playoff time. That's if the Hawks do make the playoffs?

- EKolb13

Conklin cleared waivers today. I assume he has to go through re-entry waivers to get called back up? Not sure if it just doesn't matter in the playoffs?

Here's a thought: Quincey + Galiardi for Leddy + Frolik + 2nd. I would do that assuming we resign both of them.
- andru2797

Man, no one has beaten up Nick Leddy like me, but his potential is scary good. That's why they keep running him into the meat grinder.

I'd put Leddy on the 'no trade list'. Watch that kid skate sometimes...it's beautiful.

Put it this way, the Lanche would probably be more than willing to make this trade just to get their hands on Leddy. They can have ANY defenseman in our entire system (save Keith/Seabs) before Nick Leddy.

And yes, I am the one suggesting to move Leddy down to third pairing and his defensive zone play this year at times has been an abortion. Still, you can see the talent he has when he skates with the puck through the neutral zone and blows by everyone.

If it were the last year of his deal the "Never" could change.
- Al

Well I guess 3+ years from now we’ll have a much better idea of where his peak is. But all this talk about suddenly trading Kane at this year’s deadline is really silly IMO. I just don’t understand why so many people are advocating this.

After so may down years we finally land a top draft pick who comes as advertised. He’s one of the most skilled players in the league, arguably one of the best playmakers, and has incredible vision. He’s averaged about 1 PPG in his young career. And now we’re going to ship him to Buffalo in a deal where the centerpiece is a goaltender who’s been off his game for some time now?? This after we’ve signed CC to a contract extension just last year?

Crawford has shown that when the Hawks play responsible defensively, his confidence follows the performance of the team and he plays at a level that is more than adequate. Worst case let’s see how the rest of the season goes for him and then re-assess the goaltending position during the off-season. I personally think we’re fine with him as long as we continue to play responsibly as we have lately which means 1) keep the pairings the way they currently are, 2) make sure DK’s minutes are 25 or less and 3) add some depth prior to the deadline (and then possibly alternate/adjust Leddy and Hammer to the third pairing).

From my Tweet...

Where's Brandon Pirri with Toews out?

Q. not a fan at all?

A choice between Pirri and Morisson for the top line...I would think Pirri??

@AlCimaglia

- Al

Perhaps Pirri might be involved in the new rumors JJ has? Maybe something might be happening today?

I don't disagree on Leddy's potential at all, but you'd be getting 2 relatively young players who can help much more now. That was my thinking. Just wanted to get opinions on it.

I agree I'd do it....leave Kruger, Leddy off the list.

>No doubt it is a team, coaching problem and I think Kane is an all-world talent, but he is a big reason the power play stinks -- when he has the puck he is not shooting or moving around enough with it -- just staying on the perimeter -- AND everybody else just stands there, too
>I just don't feel a coach like Babcock would let him get away with that

- SnapitUpstairs

I think it IS coaching, the whole team look like a bunch of statues out there on the PP, no movement at all, just pass around the perimeter...wait, pass again...wait, repeat etc.

I will say this and it isn't the first time I have mentioned the same...

If Bowman is going to make a significant deal, Pirri probably has more appeal than anyone else in Rockford.

Fair enough dude and I LOVE both Quincy and TJG. They would solve two major issues of our team and I think just those two players alone make this team vastly better.

And yes, I'd do a HELL of a lot to get them, but Nick Leddy (despite his issues) has a unique talent. YES, he makes me punch my own face in his own zone, but when he is moving forward he's a stud. He is a future #1 QB on the PowerPlay and an elite puck mover. I think in time he is going to be BETTER than Brian Campbell and Soupy is pretty damn good. Those types just don't fall out trees.

But I would do whatever I could to bring in Quincy and TJG. Galliardi was a menace when the Hawks played the Lanche this year. The only other guy more noticeable to me was O'Reilly and the Lanche won't be giving him up anytime soon.

His trade value also will probably never be higher. I believe the season he's having in Rockford, relative to his competition, will be his best as a pro (all-star, point-per-game, etc...)

Do the Hawks have an active roster spot to call up Pirri right now? Toews wouldn't go on IR if he's day to day. Hammer isn't on IR. Frolik is a spectator. I can't think of anyone else so there should be spots?

Gotta have the horses. Without a legitimate point shooting threat this PP is doomed to a perimeter game with the players in hand right now.

I don't even think Leddy would have to be included. Maybe if you include Frolik, you'd have to include Leddy, simply because Frolik's trade value is at an all time low. Solution, don't include Frolik.

I agree....a deal for both Quincy and TJG would be something like this

Pirri + Morin + LaLonde + lower prospect or 4th round pick + #2 round pick.

The Lanche would probably come back and say "give me Olsen and not LaLonde" and would beef up the 4 to a 3 or try to snag another prospect.

Or they would possibly go for
Pirri + Morin + LaLonde + Bickell + a #2 (and really the ONLY ONE there that would truly hurt would be Morin, but you gotta give up something to get something)

I don't know, but it would be costly.

There may not be a roster spot. You could be and probably are correct.
