Word was a few weeks ago that Rutherford was looking for a 1st and a prospect for any of his UFA defenseman. That was also before they re-signed Gleason. I wonder if he's still expecting the same price, or and 2nd and a 3rd for Allen, if every other team out there is coughing up that for a solid guy on defense?

On Montreal talk radio this am, Darren Dreger of TSN was interviewed and asked about the Kane to Buffalo for Miller, etc. rumors. Dreger stated he posed the question to a very reliable and senior source within the Blackhawks organization. Apparently the response to whether Kane could be traded was "Never". He stated this is pure media speculation.

I believe it. And while I would never say "Never", I just don't see any logic to any of this.

I'd like to see Bowan swing at Quincy. He is an RFA so I won't be so sad about giving to get - since he's likely not a rental. I'd prefer TJ Galiardi, but Winnik has some tenacity to his game that I like. Certainly wouldn't complain about any of those three players. Problem being that nothing mentioned really helps this team at the dot. Gaustad should be considered, and likely is; he can be had for very little, which is something I'd be looking for in a rental. The inverse being Blum and a 1st for Hemsky
