John I enjoy your Bolggs very much and respect your opinion. What do you think of this potential trade....I think it would help both teams . Miller & Gaustad and a 3rd for Kane and Pirri ?
- Cometman

I wouldn't send Kane to Buffalo without Myers coming back...which means no deal.

Tough to say.

I think it's more he hasn't taken a step forward and is standing still.

It's really tough to blame him for the injury problems that we've had that have made him play a bigger role than he is ready for. The guy had to play 22+ minutes a few times this year, something that should happen. He's been playing around 20 the past 7 or 8 games.

He's had his up and downs and on a better defense I don't think you a more consistent Peckham.

Still young and u r probably correct...Too much expected.

I liked him as an acquisition before he resigned.

I would rather have the 2nd and 3rd in this years draft, but what you offer might be enough.
- kingcong39

Hmmmm How about this years second, and next years third, butnif the hawks resign him, next years third turns into a second the blackhawks have enough young guys, time to get some veterans on this squad

Agree. He or Quincey are the only two defensemen in the rumor mill right now that I like for the Hawks, because I think they both could potentially fit in a 2nd pairing rotation, which LEGITIMATELY improves the Hawks instead of getting yet another third pairing guy.

I also wouldn't mind bringing in Jim Slater as a bottom 6 center.

Hard to say and you ask a good question, because that should affect the price to get the player. The problem is he makes 3.5 now...I suspect the Hawks could do that long term, but if he wants a bigger raise I don't know the Hawks could go there.

I suspect for a player like JO, we'd work out a conditional situation whereas if we resign him, then the Jets get another prospect/pick.

Although Johnny Oduya on the 2nd pairing moving Leddy down to third pairing and situational roles (PowerPlay) makes this team better the moment he skates onto the ice, but as you say the long term ramifications of the deal are still in doubt.

Edit: If we could move Frolik in the deal that would really help on the financial end as well.

The cost later will be worked out but if the Hawks want to significantly improve there isn't any cheaper way to do it at this point.

Yeah, sending Frolik the other way would probably make resigning Oduya a given..i guess it all depends on how high the cap would go up,or down for next year..bt if i could trade for him,and resign him, i do it, and have leddy play 3rd pairing minutes for another season or two to help his game and confidence grow

I have to agree. Going cheaper means just adding another third pairing guy, something we have in abundance.

>I think there is a reasonable chance the Hawks and Avs get something done
>Sherman and SBow have similar GM pedigrees
>Sherman has his own version of "cap-hell" on the horizon (so many RFAs, etc.) -- SBow recently had his (for different reasons)
>Also think SBow and Chevy are trying to figure out a deal that still helps the Jets make the playoffs AND helps the Hawks
>It will be very interesting to see if SBow does go for players with contracts beyond this year
>As an aside, think Kane's future in Chicago could wind up being linked to how far the Hawks go this year -- his lack of foot movement on the power play has gone on far too long -- yet regardless of how bad a game he is playing, Kane is good for at least 1 all-world set-up that should be finished PER GAME
>Tampa won the Cup in 2004 and has steadily regressed w/ St. Louis and Vinny as part of their core -- Hawks better be careful they don't follow the same formula

JJ- after that hip check last night, i REALLY want to see Bryan Allen in the indianhead. Is StanBo even looking that way or is the price too high? He has been top of my list from the start

On Montreal talk radio this am, Darren Dreger of TSN was interviewed and asked about the Kane to Buffalo for Miller, etc. rumors. Dreger stated he posed the question to a very reliable and senior source within the Blackhawks organization. Apparently the response to whether Kane could be traded was "Never". He stated this is pure media speculation.

I believe it. And while I would never say "Never", I just don't see any logic to any of this.

You think that is a Kane problem as opposed to a team problem? I see guys standing still on the PP all the time, not all of them are wearing #88...far from it.

>No doubt it is a team, coaching problem and I think Kane is an all-world talent, but he is a big reason the power play stinks -- when he has the puck he is not shooting or moving around enough with it -- just staying on the perimeter -- AND everybody else just stands there, too
>I just don't feel a coach like Babcock would let him get away with that
