When Hjamarsson returns, I would think Lepisto will be banished to the press box. I would think when Montador returns, Olsen will catch the bus back to Rockford.
As for Morrison, what do you trade him for? He's worth nothing. Bowman got him for essentially nothing. If the Hawks don't want him around, send him to Rockford. - EKolb13

When Hammer returns they better not send down Olson or Hayes. Bowman better get a trade done for Morrison now before that happens or we will have to put him on waivers. - hawksbuzz
Unless Stan Bowman clones himself and makes a trade with his clone, no GM in the NHL will take Morrison. he's used up, washed up, finished.
Morrison was brought in as a dependable center who could win draws, yet in a late game situation we let Kruger and Bolland (two crappy faceoff guys) take draws (and lose them) to Zetterberg, who is good on draws.
If we cant run Morrison out in those situations...situations he is GOOD at then what the hell is he good for?
Either Bowman got a stiff or Q doesn't know what the hell he is doing. Everyone in the free world knew neither Kruger nor Bolland were going to win those faceoffs against Hank Z.
this time it didn't cost us. |

Morrison is here for exactly today dippoops. This is what a depth acquisition does. Step in when you need him and not hurt you. My goodness. |

It was probably only mentioned this morning, because up until now, nobody knew the that the Avs were going to make him available. I think a lot of the Bowman apologists are missing the point here. It's not so much that Quincy is a great player, although he is pretty solid, it's that the Hawks rivals in the Western Conference are doing what they need to do to better their teams NOW. They are not waiting until the trade deadline. Their is nothing magical about that day. They are identifying the guys they want and doing what they need to do to get them regardless of the timing. Do you think Detroit gave up a #1 pick for Quincy for nothing? Based on Ken Holland's track record, I'll assume they know this guy gives them some skills they need and that he will help them now and come playoff time. I'd like to know why some people think there is going to be a ton of deals come deadline day? Do you know that for a fact? What are you basing that on? Remember last year? If I recall, there were very few deals on deadline day and definitely nothing that could be considered a big trade or a real shocker. I won't bury Bowman today, but I'm not feeling too confident in him right now. If he is unable to pull off any deals and this team loses in the first round or worse, misses the playoffs, then he deserves all the heat that will come his way. Telling the fan base that trading Campbell puts them in position to add whatever is needed at the trade deadline and then doing nothing or doing something that isn't going to help you (Morrison) is not except-able. This reminds me of when Bowman said he wasn't worried about any offer sheets last year for his players and then the Sharks made him eat those words. I think Bowman miscalculated how many teams would still be in the playoffs at this time and how much competition he'd have in making deals. - RetiredGoalie

are the hawks ever going to get a 2c for hoss? they have about a 3 yr window with him and they keep trotting out not prime time 2nd line centers for the guy. someone like brassard or grabovski would just be crazy - too drastic, don't break up the band!
lets give sb another year to prove nothing. don't judge on record to this point, give him more time
and whatever you do, don't get a power forward to play along toews so he can stop taking the beating all by himself. that would be stupid. keep the smurfs together!
and now that they are showcasing big john on the PK, don't go get someone like schenn or jurcina that could actually provide something to this team. keep sending scott out while lepisto sits on the bench.
and never mind the fact that all of those guys are equally young as the "core" that is untouchable. and whatever you do, don't bring in a bigger 3 or 4C like gaustad...thats just silly talk....we have big john that can do anything and protect all.
the best comparison I have seen today is tampa after winning the cup -kept the core together, believed too long, spotty goaltending at best since. and now rebuilding
everyone has detroit love... be like the wings.......well, get some size and grit that can play. bertuzzi (piece of crap human), holstrom, franzen...not exactly a smurfs playing on the perimeter
don't judge the team based on the past year and half, give em more time to get it right

I can agree with that. If it's broke, then don't fix it. Unfortunately, I'll bet Q doesn't see it the same way.
With your idea of moving Montador to forward, are you proposing Scott stays on defense? |

I'm fully aware of why Morrison is here. Somebody "thunk up" the idea that Bowman has to find him a trade. I was meerly anwsering to that. |

I still like him better at C than W. He's our 2nd line center, with Hossa on W. They were very good together at the start of the year. |

Morrison will go down to the AHL. If he gets claimed on waivers, oh well. Bowman hoped to win the lottery with Morrison, but it didn't work. Cost him a never will be.
The way Olson and Keith are playing, I'm starting to think Olson is better than any defenseman available via trade. Is that crazy? Hammer and Monty as your third pair would be pretty solid. Lepisto and Odonnell as reserves isn't so bad.

And Leddy is significantly better since being paired with Seabrook. It also helps that the D seems to now be allowed to be physical in the crease in front of Crawford from time to time. |

Has anyone else noticed that Kane's wrist shot doesn't have as much mustard on it as it used to?
I got sucked into the Youtube vortex the other day and came across a clip of him firing a wrist shot past Kipper a couple of years ago and it was sick. I'm thinking that the off season surgery he had is flaring up a little which might have to do with him being taken off of the Center position earlier in the season. |

It's not crazy at all. The kid is a natural left side Dman who is playing on the right side - not easy for a 20 year old in the NHL. He's a much better player than Montador already. Skates well, bangs some bodies, some nastiness. You could make the argument that Keith has started to play better paired with Olsen. The only thing to worry about is lack of experience in the playoffs. |
