I don't know about one dimensional, but he's certainly not flashy. He brings some physicality and can play an effective PK...both dimensions the Hawks are sorely lacking.
- Ogilthorpe2

No, trust me, "one dimensional" is the perfect way to describe him.

I'm very, very familar with him. I'm just as big a Stars fan as I am Flyers fan. He literally can barely stick handle. His hands are atrocious. By no means a puck-mover.

He has an incredibley hard shot that rarely hits the net. He also needs 2 or 3 extra seconds to get it off. Not really a weapon from the point. Any offense he generates is just a nice bonus.

However, defensive play? Physicality? Shot blocking? Active stick? Good positioning?

Grossman's your man.

As far as a trade making the Blackhawks better......who really knows, but based on the recent nine game skid we learned a lot. There are a lot of holes that need to be filled. I for one was one of the last to jump on the fire Q train but by all accounts next season he will be on the hot seat from day 1. However, now is now and if I'm StanBo unless i can get a difference maker I might as well not make a move. What is the purpose of making a depth move and trade a prospect or two and picks for a rental player?... so we can maybe win the first round then lose in the second. What happens if they are a fourth or fifth seed and play Nashville in the first round......does anyone think the hawks could beat them?? And as far as getting a difference maker who is only signed through this year, plus with the unknown of the CBA looming in the off season should he make that deal.....rumor is the cap will be up to around 68-70 million and with that the Hawks be around 15mil in cap space. Will the market be better and more reasonable in the off season to make a deal? There are a lot of angles to this but sometimes the trade you don't make is the best trade of all.

Of course.

A lot of people on here want to think it's their way or Bowman is an idiot.

Then again, that is most fans in most sports.

There is a reason we have the jobs we do

Take a look at the depth moves Boston made around the deadline last year, and tell me they didn't matter. In fact, the big name, Kaberle, had the least impact on their run, out of all the moves.

Are Hawks fans aware that apparently Mark Eaton has asked for a trade out of NY?

Former center for the Utah Jazz? That would sure add size.

With Nashville adding depth on D in Gill, and Detroit adding depth in Quincey today, does this force StanBo's hands? He has to go get Allen, Eaton, some sort of defensive depth. Two division foes got stronger...Chicago is on the clock...I really think they can be buyers and sellers. Someone must want Brunette

Correct but you are missing my point. Comparing last years Bruins to this years Hawks is apples to oranges. For instance the Eastern conference last year and also for the most part this year, is a much weaker conference then the West. Plus, going into the trade deadline the then Bruins had less holes compared to the now hawks. All I'm saying is....with all the holes the Hawks have....inconsistent goaltending.....no depth on d......no fourth line....special teams inconsistent and at times um......"poopty".....etc....so again is one or two moves going to fix this......uh no. Will one or two moves make you better than Detroit.....Nashville.....Vancouver......San Jose.....St Louis?......uh no. I think the best action is to make a couple of low risk moves and wait till the offseason.....and if Stanbo gives us another off season like he did last year then it's time to fire him.

Finally someone described Grossman's game accurately. Somebody was willing to pay a little more for him last Friday than all the other GM's who were shopping at the Dallas store.

He certainly isn't a player that will be the difference between winning and losing a playoff series. Hawks could have used him in certain situations and the readers here could have voiced their displeasure about how he plays and how Bowman got fleeced in the deal.

Also...one thought on the prospects in the hawks system. Currently, according to Hockey Futures they have a top 10 system. Yes, statements are correct in saying they lack a bonafide superstar in their system.....but with Toews, Kane, Hossa, Sharp, Keith, and Seabrook, if your system currently is filled with potential solid role players and grinders to fill out the aforementioned "superstars".....plus with increasing amount of cap space to go out and sign top level players as you pay your home grown developed role player affordable salaries.....how is that bad?? With players like Leddy(first full season), Stalberg(2nd full season), and Kruger(1st full season) getting better as they grow I see more positives then negatives.....

I disagree.

A player like Grossman can have a huge impact come playoff time.

He's between Kane and Sharp. Q figures the long reach will help with faceoffs.

If Sharp doesn't play any center tonight, it furthers my belief that he let Q and Co. know he doesn't want to play center..
