Well,
Imagine that. We hadn't heard a peep about Kyle Quincey until this morning and now the failure to obtain him means the following:
1. Management is not serious about a Stanley Cup...
2. Detroit wants to win...
3. Other teams are ALL IN...
4. McDonough reads Mein Kampf
5. The world is about to end!!!!
6. The stupid Hawks organization just will NOT listen to the bloggers brilliant strategy to win every game and every Stanley Cup Forever!

Please....you need a top 4 D man badly...to have everyone fall into line in roles they are comfortable with. End of story.
The draft this year is supposed to be god awful. What prospects are going to pan out, if any out of that draft?
If you have Sharp,Kane, Hossa, Toews locked up for X number of years, where the hell is Saad, Morin, Hayes all going to fill spots at? They may already be blocked by guys on the current roster, and that doesn't include Bolland, Stalberg, Kruger who are coming into their own...SO out of 12 forward spots, 7 may already be filled for immediate future.
Fact is, Detroit is ALL IN, Nasvhille is ALL IN, Philly is ALL IN.....are the Hawks? - SteveRain
Two months ago everyone was saying this was the deepest draft in years, and that was why 2012 picks should be worth more than years past. |

Ughhh!!!
So the two players I wanted the Hawks to get wind up getting dealt for each other. Then Quincy winds up a Red Wing. Oh My god am I pissed...
I remember when Campbell was traded and everybody on this board ( And elsewhere thanks to Hawks P.R. toadie Eddie O...)was dancing around jumping for joy at all their newfound salary cap space and all the the options they'll have come deadline day. I pointed out then that the Red Wings had just as much cap space, just as many prospects and have a much more saavy GM. And so when the best D available is out there, who gets him? Ken Holland.
Stan couldn't pony up next years 1st? A first that would be a better pick than the Red Wings 1st. Couldn't do that? And now,not only do you miss out on what might be the best D man available but you let him go to your main competition in the west? Un -bleeping-forgivable.!!!!!!
But we got Fornataro. Dat's a spicy Meatball!!!!!!! - yahoodi
The first I heard Kyle Quincy's name mentioned as an option was this morning.

If Yzerman is thinking that the Hawks will finish higher than the Flyers, he takes the Flyers picks.. - pri$ey
Both teams are just about the same points wise, and whatever team Yzerman is dealing Kubina to, he has to figure it's to improve the team he's trading him to. So I don't think that's the reason. |

Why all the love for Kubina? Here is my take. He will be suspended for more games than he will play the rest of the season. Shanahan better do his f'n job! |

You are correct it doesnt have the HUGE name(s) although its a very deep draft as far as general talent is concerned. |

I am going to hold management to their statement the other day that they felt "they could do better than Kubina".
For the record, I was never one who thought not getting Quincey was the end of the world. If for one good prospect and a 2nd and a 4th you get the winger for 19 and 88 and the point shooter, minute eater, you are a fool not to make that deal happen. - Return of the Roar
Why are you so confident this was available?
Like I said, there are other factors. If Yzerman thinks the Flyers finish lower than the Hawks, shouldn't he take their picks?
It's as cut and dry as you want it to be.

I am not excusing SB, but people realize that teams don't have to trade with you if they do not want to. Wonder if Hawks getting shunned or extorted, or if getting burned by other buddy buddy relationships...like Steve Y and Detroit? |

I just read the below statement a minute ago.
Im assuming the big center is Segal and the Smurf is Fornatero.
So which is it is he big or a smurf? - mvp0207
Matt Fornataro is the smurf. He weighs in at 185 lbs. |

Lots and Lots of moving pieces.... backdoor handshakes, future considerations its a business move we cant act like we know who was outbid and for what. For all we know hawks were not as high on Kubina or every other defensmen available as people on this board are. |

Yzerman wouldn't have a good relationship with Scotty?
I'll assume he's known Stan for years as well because of that relationship. |

As per the Hawks...
The Chicago Blackhawks have traded forward Brandon Segal to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for future considerations

I'm sure the Yzerman/Holland realationship had something to do with Quincey. Maybe the price for Detroit to deal directly with Colorado was higher, and maybe Holland got Yzerman to play intermeadiary?

I was trying to be a smart a$$. My view is Stanbo will cheap his way through this..... ie. moves like he has made in the past. Campoli, Pahlsson. He has no marbles!

Yes but 90% of the deals will still go down on deadline day.
Lets just wait until its over before we look at the body of work. We are only at the tip of the iceberg as far as how many deals have gone down compared to how many will go down. - mvp0207
WOW!!! How many Hawks marketing people get paid to post on this site!!
This is a sellers market, and a limited one at that. Identify who fits your system the best and pony up what it takes to get them. Not tough. Problem is, our GM doesn't want to pony up, and a lot of the quality is being taken out of the market. What's he going to say now that moves ARE being made? "WE DIDN'T WANT TO TRADE A SUREFIRE HALL OF FAMER, BRANDON SAAD, TO HELP THIS TEAM POSSIBLY WIN THIS YEAR....."
Maybe the spinmasters at 1901 W. Madison better come up with a commercial of Stan with the Stanley Cup before the mobs with torches head to the UC. |

Your right!!! I meant Morrison..... You get me drift though, I don't think he has the marbles to do anything worth substance. To make some noise this year he is going to have to let go of some of these prospects. Unless he thinks all of them are the best thing since sliced bread. |
