I would assume that a package of Saad, a 2nd and a 4th would have been acceptable from where you sit for Downie and Kubina right? Because I know that would have been a deal worth making and not even need to think twice about.

If Stan thought that was too much then he's in the wrong job.

- Return of the Roar

the first step toward recovery for the hawks is the admission that they have a problem and the problem is stan bowman aka golden dummy

Im not impressed with anyone that went so far except maybe Kubina. There will be lots of moves come trade deadline lets not flip out every single time a move is announced. Its sounds something like this "Thats the guys dam it we needed that guy there is no one else out there" Then 2 days later " That was the guys dam it we needed that guy who else is out there." Now today "Dam thats the guys we needed who else could they possibly be looking at theres no one else out there."

Could we just see what happens till the end of the deadline or is that crazy?

I would consider Allen to be somewhat of equal talent of what you mentioned, and I would be happy if Bowman can get Allen.
- EKolb13

Me too. I get that people are agitated that Stan isn't making any moves because I am agitated too, but the reactionary posts every time someone gets moved are laughable. Quincey wasn't mentioned hardly at all on this board until JJ mentioned him today. Now he gets moved and people are up in arms like the Hawks and Avs have been flirting for weeks and Stan couldn't get it done. Maybe he was there with the Avs and had to pull out because of the Toews injury. Maybe the Hawks have another guy on the line. Maybe Stan sucks at his job and is afraid to make a move and get burned. Its a fluid situation that isn't fully resolved until Monday. Hopefully he isn't in over his head like many on here believe, but I guess its getting harder to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Wonderful! Bowman just dealt a guy that could play on the forth line in Chicago that can hit for a center who is smurf!

Segal to Tampa to replace Downie. Why would the Hawks make this meaningless deal unless something else was on the table ?

I will reserve judgement until late Monday afternoon to see what the Hawks and others have done before I praise/criticize Bowman and Company. Not going to get all worked up over Kyle FN Quincey....please.

I am with you. A lot more shoes to drop between now and Monday. Maybe we will be disappointed, maybe we won't be, but there is no need to print the report card now.

Yea , but if you wait players you want will continue to become unavailable. I said the same thing last week but since then Nashville and Detroit have gotten better. The Hawks need to improve.

Yes but 90% of the deals will still go down on deadline day.

Lets just wait until its over before we look at the body of work. We are only at the tip of the iceberg as far as how many deals have gone down compared to how many will go down.

Right? Matt Fornataro is 6' and weighs in at a hefty 185lbs.

Well,
Imagine that. We hadn't heard a peep about Kyle Quincey until this morning and now the failure to obtain him means the following:

1. Management is not serious about a Stanley Cup...
2. Detroit wants to win...
3. Other teams are ALL IN...
4. McDonough reads Mein Kampf
5. The world is about to end!!!!
6. The stupid Hawks organization just will NOT listen to the bloggers brilliant strategy to win every game and every Stanley Cup Forever!

If we only had Kyle Quincey...

If I'm not mistaken, the prospect Philadelphia gave up isn't that much of a prospect at all. In fact, I think they had to take him so Philadelphia could stay under the 50 contract limit.

I would have given up a 2nd, 4th and David Gilbert (or someone of equal talent) to make that deal for Kubina work

If Yzerman is thinking that the Hawks will finish higher than the Flyers, he takes the Flyers picks..

I just read the below statement a minute ago.

Im assuming the big center is Segal and the Smurf is Fornatero.

So which is it is he big or a smurf?

I am going to hold management to their statement the other day that they felt "they could do better than Kubina".

For the record, I was never one who thought not getting Quincey was the end of the world. If for one good prospect and a 2nd and a 4th you get the winger for 19 and 88 and the point shooter, minute eater, you are a fool not to make that deal happen.

Ughhh!!!

So the two players I wanted the Hawks to get wind up getting dealt for each other. Then Quincy winds up a Red Wing. Oh My god am I pissed...

I remember when Campbell was traded and everybody on this board ( And elsewhere thanks to Hawks P.R. toadie Eddie O...)was dancing around jumping for joy at all their newfound salary cap space and all the the options they'll have come deadline day. I pointed out then that the Red Wings had just as much cap space, just as many prospects and have a much more saavy GM. And so when the best D available is out there, who gets him? Ken Holland.

Stan couldn't pony up next years 1st? A first that would be a better pick than the Red Wings 1st. Couldn't do that? And now,not only do you miss out on what might be the best D man available but you let him go to your main competition in the west? Un -bleeping-forgivable.!!!!!!

But we got Fornataro. Dat's a spicy Meatball!!!!!!!
