JJ's comment on SB getting beaten to the punch seems to be dead on.
- blackhawk24

Maybe, maybe not. Can't see the Hawks taking a high priced RFA d-man without unloading Montador or Hammer (both of whom are injured). That's too much $$$ on the blue line again.

I've have made, and still do make plenty of rational arguments to back my points. The problem with a site like this is that people don't always (nor should anyone expect them to) read every post of every thread, or commit to memory the many reasons someone may have formed a certain opinion of a coach or player.

There is only so many times you can type out and repeat all the evidence/facts/opinions that back your arguments. So yeah, every so often it degrades to putting it bluntly. There's not enough hours in the day to recap every time it coes up the reasons I feel Q is inept (better?).

Just because someone was successful in the past, doesn't make them immune to diminishing results or declining effectiveness. 600+ wins is all great and everything, but that's the past. Q needs to be judged on the results he's getting now, not the results he got in STL, DEN, or in 2009-10.

- Ogilthorpe2

It is not possible to rationally defend the statement "Q is an idiot." Sorry. Inept is still a stretch. Having a bad year, sure. Declining effectiveness, hard to say right now.

Should the Hawks go on a 9 game winning streak, would you still say the same thing?

I guess my point is, you can make a lot of arguments about whether or not Q has done a good job this year. Calling him inept or an idiot is hard to defend. His past has to come in to play with statements like that.

On the other hand, you could claim he's lost the locker room, you could say that he made a poor choice in brining Kitchen in, you could say that he hasn't done a good job with the power play this year. Those are all defensible.

It would not be an issue for the rest of the season. Then come summer if you are gonna resign Quincey you give Monty away for nothing.

Im starting to wonder if the talk of Stan being a little "gun shy" isn't, in fact, a gross understatement.

McKenzie now saying Quincey has gone from TB to DET for a first rd pick.
- dan9189

Wings still have enough cap space to add a solid forward. Detroit is going to load up and make a run. Save your prospects and picks Stan, unless you can trade for some RFA's for next season.

Yeah, would have been nice to get Quincey. Not sure what Stan's offer would have been, but it would make sense that Yzerman would have shipped him to Detroit over Chicago with all other things being equal.

0 for 4....

Prepare yourselves, this is an EXTREMELY conservative GM who is getting beaten to the punch on every deal. Yet, he cries about lack of trades, prices, etc...Well, out of the 4 d man gone....2 were steals, 1 was expensive, and 1 was about right...Chris Campoli is NOT the answer.

Lets see how much they start pumping tires on Olsen and lepisto.

Or walk away from Quincey after the arbiter's descision, if Quincey is arbitration elegible.

I'll bet they pump the tires on Olsen to the point of over inflation. Lepisto will be in the press box once either Hjamarsson or Montador is back.

I wouldn't be surprised if Campoli is exactly what Bowman trades for.

Looks like Linsdrom's final season. Wings management is going to go all out to send him off with a bang, Lord Stanley.

I'm sorry...but a whole lot of assumptions here. I've personally thought that every single deal so far (haven't had time to fully examine this one yet) has been over priced and I'm happy the Blackhawks didn't match on most of them. If true, was Grossman worth Saad...I don't think so. Was Gill worth the draft pick he got back...I don't think so. Same goes for Kubina.

Really can't figure or make any comments until next week.

Detroit wants to win. Period.

Bowman's playing games with bad contracts and next year's cap.

First of all, I was banging the fire Q drum long before the 9 game losing streak, and it would take a lot more than a 9 game win streak to change my mind. A lot more.

Secondly, and more to the highlighted points, I have made all of those arguments (and more) repeatedly. Too many times to count, and too often to keep repeating. So now I just encapsulate all of those things arguments into one succinct word. Sorry if it offends your sensibilities.

The market is what it is. Do you want to play ball or hold on to guys who are 2-3 years away from the NHL?

If you think good players are going to be cheaper in a few days, good luck with that.

Looks like Bowman is getting beaten to the punch, unless he turns out to be a player in this.

Hard not to see it otherwise. i was told this AM, the Hawks had specific interest in Quincey, probably insisted on dumping Frolik on COL. Bowman loses.

- John Jaeckel

If he is playing the take Frolik game, he will defnitely lose.

Starting to look like the reports that the Hawks are looking for help at forward and not defense are true.

JJ, maybe Toews is hurt worse than we know and they are going to have to make a move for a center? Try and figure out the defense internally, use the resources (kids and picks) to go after a top 6 center.

Wow!!Just saw the Quincey trade...ughhh...this is sooo deflating...first Toews is hurt and now this...I am beginning to think that even a Campoli like trade will not happen...screw the draft picks/prospects,I mean you do nit have to unload all of them, but unload something to get someone servicable!wtf!!who is left?ofuya and allen that are capable dmen, that would make this team much better, the list has gotten short Stan/Blackhawks management,do something!!!!

Oh, that's a safe bet. Hayes, too. Hell, Shaw, even though he's back in Rockford.

I just wouldn't trade Saad for a UFA #4 Dman. I wouldn't trade a 2nd/4th/prospect for Kubina. I wouldn't trade for Gill at his cost either.

The cost just doesn't make sense right now for players that will marginally help the Blackhawks.

Please....you need a top 4 D man badly...to have everyone fall into line in roles they are comfortable with. End of story.

The draft this year is supposed to be god awful. What prospects are going to pan out, if any out of that draft?

If you have Sharp,Kane, Hossa, Toews locked up for X number of years, where the hell is Saad, Morin, Hayes all going to fill spots at? They may already be blocked by guys on the current roster, and that doesn't include Bolland, Stalberg, Kruger who are coming into their own...SO out of 12 forward spots, 7 may already be filled for immediate future.

Fact is, Detroit is ALL IN, Nasvhille is ALL IN, Philly is ALL IN.....are the Hawks?

Playing Devil's Advocate... could he have just bluffed the pot up for Quincey to force the Wings to spend a 1st rounder on the guy, while his target might have been somebody else all along?

If he ends up getting one of the other targeted defensemen that you had mentioned earlier, will you still the same way?

Obviously, it would behoove Stan to do something soon. I'll stop apologizing for him if he stands pat at the deadline.
