Yes, you are correct. I meant the best offensive hockey of his career.

Yes. Now I got it.

Steve Downie traded to Colorado per Mckenzie

They're only three points out of a playoff spot. Maybe they're not sellers after all.

Interesting, maybe part of something else in the works, hope Stan is in there.

Interesting, because they are both teams the Hawks are talking to. This could be a bit of a domino trade, also really curious what COL sent back.

Stan, that's strike two.

Kubina + Downie to Chicago would have been HUGE.

Must be something going on, Downie is making 1.8mil and is an RFA, Av's already have too many RFA's

COL seems to be trying to make cap space. That just saved them $1.2MM.

Looks like Bowman is getting beaten to the punch, unless he turns out to be a player in this.

Hard not to see it otherwise. i was told this AM, the Hawks had specific interest in Quincey, probably insisted on dumping Frolik on COL. Bowman loses.

This could be a setup involving the Hawks. I would not bet on it however.

Don't know. That's The point. Why has he never been given the chance? Does anyone doubt that if Toews was given the 3rd line center role as a rookie that he would have excelled at it? Of course he would have, he's a great hockey player. So then what if Q just arbitrarily decided that Toews was permanently going to be his shut down center and never have the chance to prove he could be anything more just because he was good at it?

Before I get flamed, I know Bolland and Toews aren't even in the same ball park talent wise. I just think Bolland as been unfairly "type cast" as a 3rd line center without ever getting a legit cance to prove otherwise. Just because he's good at one thing doesn't mean, if given the chance, that he wouldn't be equally good at something else.

- Ogilthorpe2

I have always liked Bolland as a #3. Taking him off the 3rd lines leaves us Kruger/Bickell/Stalberg. I don't think that's a whole lot to worry about. With Bolland playing there, it gives us 3 lines that can score. A huge deal in the playoffs. I think Kruger becomes a better offensive player playing with Hossa and Bolland gets more out of Bickell. Just more balance.

Agreed. I'm betting someone outbid Stan for the guy he wanted.

A center the Hawks can't afford to give up right now. Maybe Stalberg, maybe prospect(s), maybe pick(s).

Maybe Bowman just lost.

Who's left out there other than Allen who can play 20 minutes a game on the blueline and is not on a team that still is in the playoff hunt?

Quincey is making $ 3 plus mil and is an RFA after season's end, it's hard to see the Hawks doing this without sending some $$$ on the blue line back to COL. Not at all disputing your sources, I just think they can't or won't take what will be a long term contract for a defenseman without shipping out Montador or Hammer. Especially with Leddy being only one more year away from the end of his first deal.

It does show that the Av's could be starting to deal. There are a lot of nice pieces there. Stan needs to get in there now.

JJ's comment on SB getting beaten to the punch seems to be dead on.

To disagree with him is one thing but to call the man an Idiot is flat out incorrect.

I've have made, and still do make plenty of rational arguments to back my points. The problem with a site like this is that people don't always (nor should anyone expect them to) read every post of every thread, or commit to memory the many reasons someone may have formed a certain opinion of a coach or player.

There is only so many times you can type out and repeat all the evidence/facts/opinions that back your arguments. So yeah, every so often it degrades to putting it bluntly. There's not enough hours in the day to recap every time it coes up the reasons I feel Q is inept (better?).

Just because someone was successful in the past, doesn't make them immune to diminishing results or declining effectiveness. 600+ wins is all great and everything, but that's the past. Q needs to be judged on the results he's getting now, not the results he got in STL, DEN, or in 2009-10.
