Bryz doesn't WANT a mentor or attempted correction. He has his ways and wants to stick by them. That's probably where he's butted heads with Reese, who is a very hands-on "teaching" goalie coach.
- bmeltzer

Wonder if Bryz's experience with the Allaire school of goaltending technique is at odds with Reese's methods. Wonder if the Flyers try to snag Sean Burke this summer as a goalie coach. He knows about being disliked in Philly.

Okay now correct me if I'm wrong but that's a legitimate knock on Bryz. Considering he's struggling, he needs to open up and take the coaches input. Wow that's very telling Bill.
- JoeRussomanno

i think after playing hockey at his level its going to be hard to change his style. Reese if he was worth anything would be helping him enhance his style.

I'm pretty happy with what Homer has done so far. The only thing I think we NEED is a checking line, but I'll be okay if that doesn't happen. We are deep at forward, and at this point we might as well hold onto them until the draft and determine our needs then. Maybe we can get Briere to waive his NTC so we can afford some UFA d-men...

Everyone needs to realize briere is going nowhere.

Maybe its the coaches "input" that is messing with Bryz....
- RooNosHockey

It could be but considering the situation, I submit to what the coaches are asking if I'm him. See that's what the media needs to be picking at or is it just taboo?

This game tonight will be very difficult to win. Winnipeg is tough at home, Byfuglien, and Kane are back, and they have had the Flyers number this year.

I think Winnipeg is actually going to end up winning their division, Florida is starting to struggle, and Washington looks like a shot team. All of a sudden a # 6 seed wouldn't be that appealing. Not to mention that would be the worst possible travel situation for a first round series.

- PLindbergh31

I for whatever reason haven't kept my eyes on the standings much this year outside of were the Flyers fit... but I keep forgetting Winnipeg is still in the Eastern Conference. Whenever I hear their name come up, I just think "West" without really thinking about where they actually fit in.

Jets are getting hot at the right time, and neither Washington or Florida is playing that well.
- Jsaquella

Washington looks disinterested. They went through the motions last night. No excuse losing 6-0 to Carolina when you are fighting for your playoff lives.

Makes sense if you are looking at a map. Winnipeg isn't really East of many places.

This is making sense now. Conflicting style with coaching. Yea I guess I can see where the problem is. It is evidently showing up on the ice too.

Yea, but what if it was Reese trying to "tweak" one thing that Bryz does, that has thrown him completely off his game... Like messing with a pitchers fast ball.... If it works dont fix it....

Would butting heads with a coach affect his play that much? I could see if it was a younger, more impressionable player, but Bryz has had more than one quality year in the NHL. Like you said, if you're 31, you're not going to want to change your game.

I'm not saying that firing Boudreau was the wrong move, because I think that he couldn't possibly have wrung more out of the team than he did. But Hunter is looking like a horrible choice to replace him.

IMO he would be canidate number 1 for contract buyout... We are deep at center, and Pronger's hit will be LTIR'd... It would be down to Bryz or Briere, and even though Bryz is having a rough year, I think he is redeemable. Briere may be clutch in playoffs, but will all this youth movement, we need to use that cap space elsewhere...

Ok, question..Why does this article say that Kubina and Jagr teamed up to win the Olympic Gold Medal in 02, 06 and 10??

Um, 06 Sweden, 02, 2010 Canada. Need to check those kinds of facts..

Maybe they won the World gold medals those years but I don't remember that..

I think BB had run his course there, but no question Hunter looks like he is in way over his head. I'm glad too, Hunter is a jerkoff. What he did to Pierre Turgeon was one of the most classless things I have seen.

Okay but there's a clearly an issue at play here, I think we all can agree on. Didn't we live through this type of thing last year?

The goaltending coach and different styles of goaltending has interested me before. What do teams do when they have a goalie coach that say, is good at teaching butterfly, but the team then brings in a non-butterfly type of guy? I would certainly assume you want the coach to adapt to the player and not the other way around, as the reason you brought in said goalie is how he played before you got him and that's what you want out of him. But maybe the goalie coach just isn't good at teaching the other style? What do you do?

I'm not saying that's what's going on here, but in general to anyone in the know, has this ever lead to problems on other teams?
