Just expecting him to make the routine saves is setting the bar low, but right now it would be a start.
- PLindbergh31

Those kind of expectations are what you should have for guys like Boucher or Leighton.

Thats why people are (frank)ing pissed.

Does anybody like Paul Gustaud? Is he a possibility or a pipe dream. He'd really round out the team. If you throw him into the mix with the new defensive additions it sure looks like a formidible group of skaters.
- 2731color

I like him. Don't see a good trade fit anymore, and Flyers would have to free up cap space. He's not worth a first-round pick.

Have to start somewhere and its begins with making basic saves and keeping his team in the game. Hopefully he can make a couple of key saves that can change momentum. Once he gets his game going he will be just fine.

Giambi should have slid.

I still don't think Posada tagged him.

- MrBuzzcut

Oh Christ, I opened a Can of Worms. He definitely should have slid, but he was safe regardless. What a Sham. Of course this came during the same year as the "Tuck Rule" game in New England - glorious time for Oakland fans.

No question. I don't understand how people being pissed, and disappointed is being misconstrued as people rooting against, and hoping Bryzgalov fails. Doesn't make sense to me.

I have tuned the media out, I don't read Panaccio, Carchidi, or Seravalli, they are out to create drama, and they have an agenda. But by no means are they responsible for anything that happens on the ice.

I see that play almost every day in some form on MLB Network and I'm still waiting for the tag.

Exactly. Make the routine saves, and build from there. I wish there was a stat for soft goals. It would have to be subjective, but I guarantee the Flyers are at the top of the League in allowing questionable goals. That has to stop.

Off for a date night hooligans.

I'll end off with this as its not game day or anything.

Carey Price. Got a hell of a lot more heat in Monreal the last few seasons. Even for pre-season performances. Fans wanted to run him out of town. After the hero Halak was traded, after he played sub par inconsistent hockey.

A young guy like him, pulled it together, with a worse D core than the Flyers have. He did not get babied, he did it with his play. Bryzgalov can, and has the chance to do the same.

Whether he has the ability, we will see. I hope he does.

Good day, and good hockey.

I could do without the Bronx cheers. Those can be clearly heard on TV. No call for that

Edit. Not sure why this is bold.

I don't have a problem with folks who pay a premium to go to games booing a bad product. It's their right to voice their displeasure. They have been abysmal at home for a 50 game stretch now.

The Red Wings have won 23 straight home games, while the Flyers can't win 2.

As far as soft goals go nothing can be worse then what we watched against Pittsburgh on Saturday. Those goals were terrible and there is noway to sugar coat that. Bryz has to be better and give his team a chance. There are times when he is left out to dry but the last game I didnt see it. He has to make those stops (their basic saves).

Yup. It is a team game. Flyers have left the goaltenders hang out to dry at times, but they also have bailed them out by being the highest scoring team in the NHL.

Yup. Bobrovsky has been terrible lately, Bryzgalov shouldn't have to be looking over his shoulder. There is a four game road trip starting tomorrow night, no back to back games, barring Bryzgalov melting down like Chernobyl, I give him all four games.
- PLindbergh31

Hear. Hear. I think they gotta play this guy. Don't know what the ultimate solution is but maybe he can just play his way out of it. Using Bob hasn't helped on any level. Back in the 70's there was a relatively successful Pirates pitcher named Steve Blass. One year for some inexplicible reason he lost the ability to throw strikes and never regained it. They call it the Steve Blass Disease when a pitcher loses his control. Let's hope that Bryz hasn't lost the ability to stop pucks..

Can you understand how throwing up your hands in disgust every time he makes a save and giving a standing ovation when he's pulled may just seem like someone rooting for him to fail? I saw that at Saturday's game. I've also seen people not giving credit when he does well, because no matter how well he does he'll never be worth that contract in their eyes. I just would prefer to root and hope rather than constantly whine and belly ache and then be gleeful when he meets their expectations of him sucking. I'm not blind, I do see him struggling now, but I also remember Thomas losing his starting job 2 years ago after signing a big deal and then coming back the next year and winning the cup.

So it comes down to money. People spend a little money and they get to act like an ass. He was getting booed when he made saves too, hence the Bronx Cheer comment. They as a team have been pretty awful at home and there is no excuse, but what good does booing do? Bryz knows he has to be better. Maybe its just me, but booing is for morons.

If the Flyers could ever get on the same page they can be very dangerous. Imagine if defense, scoring, special teams and goaltending all played well. Even with them being a defense that ranks in the bottom five they have done a nice job to have the record they do.

They traded the # 2 they acquired from the Panthers, that is either this year or next, as well as their # 2 this year for Grossman.

I read somewhere that second round picks only have a 17% chance of being regulars in the NHL, so I guess it's a calculated risk worth taking.

Well, with the defensive corps bolstered we've got an improved opportunity for everybody to start keeping the puck out of our net and out of our zone. It'll still come down to less careless play by the forwards, though, and moreso better goaltending from our ten million dollar philosopher.

Im not a person who will "boo" a player just not my style. However, the Flyer fans had a right to boo what they saw Saturday (those goals were pathetic). Now that game is over, is time to get back to supporting the players that are on the ice for the Flyers.
