So now Bryzgalov doesn't want to be here? You got that much from an out of context quote?

- MBFlyerfan

Bryz should have done his due diligence about how hard it is to play goalie in Philly.

I think his quote about coming to hockey hell in 24/7 pretty much says he did.

You do understand that Bryzgalov has a NMC and isn't likely to waive it to go to Columbus, right?
- Jsaquella

The guy doesn't want to be here IMO. Why not go somewhere where the pressure to win isn't as high?

OK, why go to Columbus, where they can't possibly win?

Maybe the Flyers should have done their research too.

edit:

I know Boosh wasn't the best goalie, but I sure miss his attitude.

FWIW, here's the full quote. Only Adam Kimelman of nhl.com bothered to publish the entire quote

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=617679

"It's an easy life when you can blame one guy," Bryzgalov said. "It's a bad goalie, the goalie's mistake. It's easy to find scapegoat when you point to one guy and say we always losing because we have a bad goalie. But I think it's the wrong philosophy. … I was frustrated with my game today. I know I've got to be better. I will continue to work on this … I'll try to find peace in my soul to play in this city."

He's obviously frustrated. He wants to be playing better, and I think he wants to stay. But being ridden by the media and the idiots in the fanbase is taking it's toll.

I thought goal tending was horrendous on Saturday. Bryz allowed three goals that should have been pretty routine.. the break away was at worst a tough "make-able" save. Bob on the other hand seemed more unlucky than anything. He wasnt any better though. I knew from the beginning that Bryz looked shaky, fighting pucks and slow to react and what not.. HOWEVER!!!

The team in front of them really frustrates the hell out of me. Both SHG's were directly off of terrible turnovers. G with the no luck behind the back assist on Staals goal and Timonen (YET AGAIN ) failing to keep a puck in on a pretty simple pass, both directly led to goals. Regardless of whether or not the saves should have been made, you cannot afford to keep giving up chances like that, because odds are no matter who is in goal it will eventually end up proving costly.

The goaltending, especially by Bryz, was brutal on Saturday. I think what pissed me off more than anything was on the partial breakaway goal that Bryz didn't even try. He could have come out of his net more, used the stick to poke check the puck away or anything more than what he did which was squat. I've seen pee wee goalies make more of an effort to stop the puck. His apathetic attitude as soon as he is beaten by a soft goal tells me this guy has no mental fortitude to play in a city with very high expectations!

Media opted to leave that part out.. which is seriously a travesty. They have a mission.. and they are doing well so far towards completing it. They succeeded with Richards and Carter.. and they will do their damnedest to succeed here as well.

I honestly got pissed on Saturday thinking about the smiles the media guys probably had on their faces when Bryz got pulled. It literally wanted to punch the wall.

Idiots? Really? Sorry saq but as much as I realize that the team defense has been subpar all season, I am also aware of how deflating it is to work your tail off to build a lead only to have it disappear due to poor goaltending. All 3 goals let in by Bryz on Saturday should have been stopped. Hell the goal by Vanek on Thursday was piss poor as well. All people want him to do is make the saves he should be. For what he gets paid should he be playing at Lundqvist's level? Most would argue he should. I don't even care if he doesn't play out of his mind but at least make a routine save and make some effort on the play!

In looking at his body language, especially after that 3rd goal, that is what tells me he is lost right now. I am not sure how he gets it right in his head, but I am pulling for him...we all want him to succeed, because we all benefit then. That being said, I would still go with Bob for awhile...although I can not give you any solid reasoning behind that...it is just a feeling. He is still young and I think he has the tools to develop into a very good and solid goalie.

CSN Philly has video of the full quote. I feel for Bryz. I think he he has owned up to the fact that he needs to play better and I think he wants to play better. I'm just afraid that he might not be able to. I don't know if he just doesn't have what it takes to play under pressure.

edit: I don't blame the media for interviewing him. I think you get what you allow with the media. I also don't blame the fans. He plays badly, the fans boo...get over it. I'm sure he got a ton of fan love yesterday at the Flyers Wives Carnival.

People who rely on scapegoats and brutally boo a guy, no matter what he does, are idiots.

Guy gets a shutout, loses in the shootout and gets booed. The people who booed him are idiots. Philly fans who take pride in booing a guy because he hasn't yet lived up to their expectations are idiots. People who rely on WIP and the Flyers beat writers to form their opinions are idiots.

Here's my question, does booing help? No. It further sends the player a message that no matter what he does, he's not going to be appreciated. I've ripped the national media for years about their attacks on Philadelphia fans. But they were not all wrong.

I'm not saying Bryzgalov has played well. In fact very few people would say they have been happy with his play. Guess what, he's the first one to tell you he has to be better. It's not as if he's made excuses all year. The guy gets blamed for every goal like it's a slow roller through his 5 hole, and it's ridiculous.
