The Penguins are also the only professional sports team within 300+ miles of Pittsburgh. Probably 90% (if not more) of Pittsburgh area residents are Penguins fans. Islanders have 50% of our area, at the absolute best. The Islanders are considered a small market team, despite their proximity to NYC.

Balsillie attempted to purchase the Penguins, Predators, and Coyotes. The closest he came to "intending" to keep each of those three teams in their respective hometowns was Pittsburgh, where his not-so-convincing pitch to Pens fans was that he "couldn't rule out" a move to Canada, but would try to remain committed to Pittsburgh. He made literally no attempt in the other two attempted-purchases to hide the fact that he wants to move a team to Hamilton. If Balsillie buys the Isles you can kiss them goodbye.

I did not see the game but it sounds like Poulin gave up some bad goals? I thought he was better than this? He does not seem to have ther consistency yet. The injuries play a part I'm sure. Isles are way too fragile in all areas to be a real playoff team.

He did but it just exemplified how the team came out. They were being out shot 7-0 90 seconds in

I just moved from Niagara Falls to Waterloo, we need a team here! Balsillie is from here as well - such a beautiful city.

I wonder what our Captain is doing for our team to not show up so often? How come he never throws a big hit or get into a fight to get his team going? What a waste he was named Captain. It should have been JT all the way.

Balsillie is from Waterloo ON. He loves the game, hates Bettman.

He's also probably broke, RIM is pretty much worthless.

Yeah because Tavares would be out there throwing big hits and fighting.

Streit is soft and does not have the respect JT has. JT has more toughness in his pinky than Striet has in his whole body. JT puts himself on the line more than Striet ever has.

If you say so. Other than that hit on Talbot, I don't think Tavares has hit anyone all season.

From NHL Trade Rumors 2012

PA Parenteau is having a breakout 2012 NHL season with the New York Islanders. The 28 year old is a late bloomer, having played in the AHL for several seasons. He has 53 points in 59 games played and is signed for one year at a $1.25 million cap hit.

The right winger has scored most of his points on a line without superstar, John Tavares. Look for the New York Islanders to trade unrestricted free agent PA Parenteau before the 2012 NHL Trade Deadline.

I think it's definitely possible for this team to get a new owner. The Isles have lots of potential, good young talent, good core of young players, and great history. If the team were to put up the for sale sign I think we'd see alot of interest. I mean Jesus, someone bought the Atlanta Thrashers!!!

If Jim Balsillie bought this team I'd be so happy

Guy has so much money and is just looking to pour it into something. Look at everything he wanted to do with the Preds. The guy is a business machine and would have this franchise in tip top shape in no time.

Sell it Charles! Your an bumhole!

he wants a team that he can move... Not just a team.

ya its no big deal if eaton wants out but if this franchise doesnt make some HUGE changes soon its gonna be much bigger names asking to leave not just depth blueliners. See columbus for a look into the future of the isles sadly. Losing is hard to take over and over again for someone like JT who has always been a winner. But the breaking point will be when he realizes that his owner and GM either dont care about winning or have no clue how to accomplish it.

You can thank Joey Mac for getting you Ty Conklin. I hope he plays well for you guys. The Isles need another tender to get going like the russian.

Of course Joey Mac will look good with a team like Detroit in front of him...... Isles are not picking up Ty.

Better be some sort of shakeup after yesterday. If they trot the same exact roster out there with the same exact lines, they're just asking for the same exact result...be it this game or two games from now when it might sort of matter again.

What is that supposed to mean. Why could Ty not look good with a team like the Wings???

Have you seen him play lately?

Jack Capuano after yesterday's 6-0 loss to Ottawa:

“At this time of the year you need physicality. You have to pay the price. I’ll never ask anybody to fight but we weren’t physical enough. We need an injection in our lineup, we need something to happen here. We can’t have the emotion that we had on the bench here tonight.”

***************************************************************

Wonder why we cant get over the hump?

We have a team full of pacifists who are asked to be physical.

A coach who wants these spiritless players to inject physical play into the line up.

Does anyone see a disconnect between the Coach, the GM and the owner in Capt Jacks statements (requests)?

Wang wants the physical aspect of the game removed.

Capt Jack wants his players to be Physical!

Garth Snow has buried all his gritty players in Bridgeport!

No one seems to be on the same page.

Is it any wonder that this team has no identity? No accountability? And no will to win?

As I stated yesterday. It all starts at the top. These three stooges cant even get on the same page.

I wonder which players Cappy believes can step up the physical play among those currently on the roster?

KO? Grabner? Ness? JT? Matt Moulson? Frans? BAILEY?????

Capt Jack must be kidding? Aside from Martin. There is no one capable of being physical in the present line up.
