He'll trade for Gaustad, and i see him brining in some 5-6 guy d-man. Maybe Peckham or something

Scouts must know the upcoming draft is going to suck. The value for 2012 draft picks is way down. A first round pick for Downie/Quincey? Wow.

A dman who actually knows how to clear out the crease would be nice.

IMO, two teams in the West the Sharks would not beat right now in the best of 7 are Detroit and Vancouver. We shall see what happens between now and April. As I've said many times before, couldn't care less about the regular season, it's all about the playoffs, especially for the Sharks.

I have a hard time imagining the Sharks winning a best of 7 series with the Blues or the Hawks as well. And right now, I'd worry about LA and Nashville, both of whom have excellent goal tending - they just struggle to score. And the Coyotes clearly out worked us the last time we met...if we enter the playoffs the way we've been playing, I think we'd be lucky to get through the first round.

LOL! the light switch turned on. We have needed a big move for weeks now, but Wilson is too busy acquiring 3rd line garbage players. Moore looked great (not really) until he got hurt (Injury, did someone say injury). BTW, in case I forgot to mention it Moore has an injury history, although not as bad as Mr. Glass. BTW when will MR. Glass return?

I argued with everyone on this board over the summer, everyone said Burns was that guy. And when I said Burns was not a good defense man, I was told to go packing. Anyone want to argue about his defense now. He just is not a good defense man.

Why would anyone think that Doug Wilson would have an eye on a solid defensive defense man. Throughout Wilson's entire tenure, with the exception of Vlasic we have never had one, and Wilson has been unable to get one. I really think it is an evaluation problem.

Why would you say this? I heard the draft is fairly deep. Yes it was overpayment for Quincy, but then again a 2nd round pick for Moore is an overpayment as well. The word out of Tampa was that Yzerman was shocked to be offered that high of a pick for Moore.

I know you're trying desperately to give me the "I told you so" (on top of your usual desperate attempts to lump everyone on this board into the drinking the teal koolaid) but no this is not an "I told you so." For most of the season, the Sharks have been able to keep goals out of their net. Statistically the sharks have been around 5th in goals against, and obviously the terrible defense of this recent road trip has bumped that number up. The point is, for most of the season the sharks haven't been that bad compared to how it's been right now. Sure the weaknesses have been exposed now, but you can't just say Brent Burns is horrible now when you never said any of this when the defense was playing effectively earlier in the season. But of course we all know you only post during the bad stretches to support your own conclusions. Go ahead and blame everything on Burns, if you want. For the record, I never said Burns was good defensive defenseman, and I always knew the purpose of bringing him in was to give us that shot from the point moreso than his defensive ability.

What about Mike Commodore and Chris Campoli? I could say now in hindsight that you were an idiot for wanting them on the sharks when the coaches have barely dressed them for any games. But no, that's in hindsight.

Burns really isn't the problem IMO. I think he's been our 2nd best defenseman this season (behind Vlasic).

The thing is though that Moore has been traded twice before for a second round pick. We got a seventh rounder back which is more than what other teams got. So you can't really say that we paid more than previous teams have.

But in previous years would Quincey/Downie have gone for a first round pick? No. There's been a lot of overpayments with draft picks so far this year (Kubina, Grossman, etc.). That was my point. The value of 2012 draft picks seems to be lower than previous years. My theory for this was that it was because teams saw this draft as not being as deep as previous years (i.e. picks in a deep draft are worth more than picks in a shallow draft).

He needed time to adjust just like anyone would have but for the most part he's been really good this year.

Not exactly. I too have wanted to make a big move for a while now. It's just I don't agree that acquiring Jeff Carter and his atrocious contract is the answer. I also don't think giving up a king's ransom for Rick Nash when our coaching staff will likely have no idea how to use him would be a waste.

A few ideas I had in mind:

1. Fire all or part the coaching staff
2. Give Greiss way more starts (Niemi is clearly fatigued just like everyone in the world except McLellan knew would happen)
3. Waive Colin White
4. Determine your forward lines now and keep them that way for the rest of the season
5. Make a trade for another top 9 winger
