man, as a leaf fan.. i was all about the schenn and a 1st for stamkos rumours. (frank)ing rights!

but you're right.. people seem awful trigger happy to get schenn out of town these days.

- joel878

I like Schenn and I would consider myself a Schenn fan, and I would hate to trade the guy but when a deal like that comes along I'd do it.

you're (frank)ing right, and that's the point i'm trying to hammer home with all the trade schenn talk floating around these days. he should only go if its part of a package that brings a guaranteed stud to this organization.

the one thing i haven't understood. schenn is a former 5th overall 22 year old defenseman. a young hockey player of that stature, why are people chomping at the bit to trade him when he's allegedly struggling, and nowhere near his max value?

i don't want to give up to quick on schenn like the man but he's the one D-Men we got that can got us Max Value don't think the gap is that wide between schenn and let's say Keith Aulie

The coaching decisions have just been awful. Thats plain for everyone to see.

Gustavsson was playing so well and they rushed Reimer in (when he got back from concussion). In the end, both started to fail.

From the outside looking in, I've always liked Schenn and was surprised to hear his name come up in trade rumours this year so much. We all know it usually takes about 5 years for defensemen to develop and it's easy to look bad when your team struggles.

I don't believe Scheider will be traded until the draft as Canucks will be looking for a 1st rounder and don't want to risk losing him for the playoffs with Luongo's uncertain play or possible injury.

Toronto, I thought was starting to rebuild the right way with Fletcher, then Burke comes in and deals away your first rounders for quick fixes. The Phaneuf deal was good because you didn't mortgage any future and personally I'm just hoping they can just relax and build the right way. Make the occasional tweak and draft well and sign good UFA's at reasonable dollars.

I really think Burke watching the team now and realizing what we need, to make another jump from playoff contender to more.

Guys like Chris Kelly, Pahlsson, Moen, Tootoo, are guys i can see him going after this offseason.

A team needs an identity and that doesn't come from one line. You need a solid foundation of players and one line that can kill penalties and shut down the opponents best players. The 4th line has to be bruisers that have skill (thorton types) and you have to play a system.

All these small things could be done much easier than going after a superstar and could result in a superstar wanting to come play for a team that has a solid base.

Goalie issues are another problem... Schneider, Halak, Ward, Miller ... these guys will cost yet the easier option at this time is Bernier.

All this to say that i believe burke will make a small deal or two this coming deadline but the real work will be done this offseason.

Nail on the head on those 3. Those 3 together would be a fantastic line

Pahlsson not as much as he is older and hasn't been as impactful lately but I'm sure you could have all 3 for the same cap hit as one Rick Nash

In fact I don't know why more teams don't go that way. Those kinds of guys are well worth it. I'm way happier with what Lapierre brings to the table than Mason Raymond, and he's half the cost

Team is soft as (frank). We could use a physical center like Staal and if Kulemin doesn't step up (He does great along the boards, but we need some hits on line 2 as well), another hitter on the 2nd line with some skill.
Line 3 could use an additional scoring, maybe a 15 goal gritty player.
Defense; Komisarek needs to be cleared off cap. Keep raising the rest.

Chris Kelly you figure will get 2.75-3 million
Pahlsson takes a cut in salary to 2.5 ish
Moen is around 2-2.25

For a third line with that quality paying 7 million dollars is great.

As much as i hate Lappiere when he played for the Habs i agree with you 100%. What is the deal with Raymond anyways.. i know he's fast but does he have any other skills?

If you're a team who just needs someone to pot some goals, create chances and put pressure on defensemen with his speed then he's the guy. He can kill penalties and he's good in the shootout.

He's fairly one dimentional but lightning fast. You already have enough of those guys and he's too far down our depth chart. If he were in L.A. or Carolina he might be a 30 goal per year guy but scoring is all he'll do. It's up to others to grind it out or be clutch players.

Kindof like when Jason Blake was in his "prime"

I think it's more of Wilson fault, we should have depth. No one is buying into Wilsons system, just look how the Nucks play, they completely buy into their Coach. Wilson must go now.

Ok... It's over, Leaf's fans are chumps. Plain and simple.

At least last year they chanted "Fire WIlson" and "Wafflrgate" scared the hell out of Burke and his image manchine.

Thiis year..... you really do suck.

How you cannot be screaming for WILSON to be fired??

The team was not prepared for this game. They looked aweful from national anthem onward.

Two two turnovers in the 2nd.... one by standing on the puck and one by an absolute bonehead whiff on a clearing attempt ------ this is what everyone means when they say leafs suck.

Reimer was bad
Defence was gross
Forwards were going through the motions and slamming sticks when plays failed.... they slammed a lot of sticks.

Just..... they were not prepared at all for this game. Blame the coach. For God sakes you had been here for 3 days and okayed in your own time zone....

What else needs to happen for a change at coach? Soemone please throw a waffle.

Not sure we have the lung capacity to keep screaming for that... starting to look hopeless (Wilson being fired, not the Leafs)

one thing I gave thought to was this...

does burke go after Nabokov or Harding, and make Reimer available to the jackets as part of a package for either Carter or Nash?

Schenn, Reimer for Khabibulin + offensive prospect (a good one)
- Sundin113

That's funny. I wrote a similar proposal in the oilers forum and got ripped appart.

Khabibulin and hemsky + pick for schenn + salery dump if needed.
