I think I'd do that. I don't even think I'm being homerish. I suggested a package similer to that on our board and got torched by canuck fans

Again though, Who has suggestions on what goalie the leafs can get???

We have Halak, Schneider, Harding, Nabokov as the most reasonable,

However grabbing one of these guys would cost an arm and a leg.
likely Top prospect that can play now, top prospect that can play in the future, and a 1st round pick.

Edit: Nabokov doesnt cost that much lol.

right.. and a 30 goal center, a prospect defenseman who can play most teams top 4 right now, a back up goalie, and a decent draft pick clearly wouldn't cover that need.
- joel878

don't be a homer. Aulie isn't a top 4 on anybodys team right now. Maybe evenually but not now. WAy sooner have a big tough winger then Grabo. They need guys who help now.

Halak would be a good addition but what about Ben Bishop... we have used Gus and "Optimus" he can't be worse. He actually looks like he can hold the fort down and be a good goalie. Wouldn't cost that much either

well good luck getting a team to pay that premium for a guy that has solid numbers as a backup. no doubt he has talent, it just comes down to the dragons den theory. the evaluation is nuts. you guys want to sell him as if he's cam ward. he's come off the bench in the playoffs, and other than that has solid numbers as a backup.

either way, you're in the wrong department. i would pass all day, and go for what might just be a pick and a prospect type goalie in someone like halak, then gut the team of our top young players for solid backup numbers. why would we? a guy like halak will be a lot cheaper, and has actually carried the reigns for a team and had success.

for what you're expecting for him, you're far better off keeping him until he can actually prove he's worth that much, and dump luongo on anyone that'll take him and his 7 mil.

would shipping a package like that your way not just further enhance vancouvers impending cap doom? could've sworn they have like 45,000 in cap space...

Mind you, if i ever want to feel better about our goalie problems i can just look at Bryz's stats. His save% is below gus reimer and scrivens... lol DAT 7 MILLION

Man o man did phoenix's defence make him look good.

Maybe grab khabibulin to fill the void until we can get a younger #1?

from what i've seen.. ben bishop is the untouchable in that system. watched a st louis broadcast on center ice last week. their analysts seem to think halak is the expendable.. and bishop is the future.

there are tons of guys who overvalue him. Most(not all) leaf fans overvalue most if not all their players as well. Personally I'd love to keep Cory S., but there are a few needs the canucks could fill if they traded him

Yep. youre right. Vancouver is going to be in some serious cap trouble in the next few years, they cant keep schnieder and luongo without gutting their forwards

If they feel Schneider is the #1 guy, i'd gladly put together a big deal for Luongo.

jesus christ man, put the gun down! schenn and khabibulin do not enter the same deal under any (almost any) circumstances.

what r you trying to say? that a young player could fail? Sure he could. Same could be said for Schenn or Gardiner. Gardiner has played what 50 games, quite a few protected minutes? Schenn has struggled mightaly this season. I just don't know how you can say that one young player is a risk and the next isn't or that he's gonna be great.
