That contract though. I really can't say who I'd rather, Carter or Nash.

Playoffs? Playoffs?
What playoffs?
Who cares if you are 'one the youngest"...if you have young average players.
The payroll is a complete mess.
Too many unmovable meh players getting paid too much. - Fakepartofme
Young players improve, and our best players, Lupul and Liles excepted, have years of improvement ahead of them, before they hit their peaks.
The payroll is a mess? How? Connolly, lombardi, and Armstrong are all done next season, And Komi the season after all the bad contracts, done in a couple of seasons. And they all have a corresponding youngster in the Marlies waiting to step up into their roles. And that's assuming Burke doesn't trade any of these guys... And he's shown the ability to move "unmovable" guys in the past.
As for playoffs, they're the thing we're in a position to get to, for the first time since JFJ ruined this team. |

I'd love nash, but the cost is going to be too much. I'm afraid what Carter will cost. |

Maybe he's trying to dump Lombardi. He might have to throw Franson in though. Maybe we could get Lebda back. |

You think burke can get Howson to actually take our bad dead weight back in return or is it gonna be a full cheap youth movement on our part going back |

Honestly, you need to stop talking. Logic, reason and looking towards the future are not permitted within these boards, right along side swearing and porn. Please see yourself to the nearest exit with all haste, before the drooling masses of Trolls beat you to death with their "PLAYOFFS OR BUST" clubs.
This young team has me excited to be a leaf fan for the first time since before the lockout. Our team is weak defensively and in goal, and those positions generally require time and experience before they become better.
You can teach a player to be better defensively. You can't teach that same player offensive talent.
Patience. |

To get Carter it would cost something like Kadri/Colborne, Kulemin and 1st to start probably more, they have to get at least what they gave up to get him

I know what you're saying and I agree. I wonder if all those horror stories about bad attitude and partying like it's 1999 are all true? When Philly dumps both him and Richards, red flags? I just don't want a cancer in our dressing room. It wasn't that long ago we got rid of Jason Blake.
Too soon? |

That's exactly what Al Arbour used to say.... That is why mike bossy became an islander.... Al told bill Torrey that he could teach a youngster to play defense but offense can't be taught

Acquire someone along the lines of Nash in a "Big Trade"
This will do one of two things to our position on the proverbial edge of the knife. Either a) put us into a better playoff position or b) put us out of the playoffs.
If we are in, hurray! The trade was awesome and went off without a hitch. If we fall further out of the playoffs, hurray! A better draft pick, a new coach, and a fresh start for a defensive and goal tending corp that is a little older and a little wiser.
