5 Teams behind the Leafs - 6pts or less - if just 1 team catches fire out of those 5
- MTL1[Wsh, WPG, TB, NYI, MTL]
the Leafs will lose the 8th sport
Its very very tough to make up ground, the leafs have been on a terrible streak, very terrible.. and are still in 8th.. No team under them is playing like they are any better or wanting it anymore. If they can start to play normal again and win a few the ground is tough to make up

No chance they make the playoffs. Book it. Their schedule ahead isn't pretty.
This road trip proved to me a couple things:
1.Nash isn't our priority
2.finding a #1 goalie is.
3.No chance we'll make the play offs yet bloody some nose
4.Get what we can for Grabo and keep the rebuild going. - Asparatrout
Amen, brother. We've missed the playoffs for 6 years, a 7th on the horizon. One consistency throughout all those years? Inconsistent goaltending. Fix it, Burke. |

I don't see Montreal (sorry) or the Islanders having a realistic shot at knocking off the Leafs.
Washington or Winnipeg, maybe. But realistically one or both of those two IN ADDITION TO the Florida Panthers would have to get hot to knock the Leafs out, because if the Jets on their own got hot, say, that would only mean they win the Southeast Division... And the Caps and Imma Getchu Cats would be in a duel for 9th. - Mr_Clean
The Leafs play many of their last games against the teams directly below them
2 vs. Mtl
2 vs. Wsh
2 vs. TB
1 or 2 vs. NYI
Any of those teams below the Leafs in the standings can catch them in short order with the head to head games |

We need a coach that can create a specific game plan, one that can implement a defensive scheme. It just looks like Wilson just has his players go out and play with no structure, nothing planned. |

It's different this year because we haven't been trying to come out of the basement and get into the playoffs. We've had a spot all year and now we're about to lose it. - clarkysduster

MTL was 13 points behind the Leafs not so long ago - now they are 6 behind and if they win tomorrow - just 4 pts back |

Yeah sure... If the Leafs lose 6 or more of those games, they're probably in trouble...
But T-Bay is brutal, and I don't the Isles and Habs taking down all 3/4 of their games versus the Leafs.
If the Leafs win even just half of those games, or if they win just three and earn an extra point or two by losing in OT, it's gonna be real tough for any of the teams currently beneath them in the standings, asides possibly from Winnipeg or Washington, to surpass them. |

We've seen it before and we'll see it again...Burke's going to pull a blockbuster out of left field including a bunch of players that weren't mentioned in a single trade rumour....and I wouldn't be surprised if it were some crazy 3-way deal.
I'd bet Grabovski's new set of sticks there's a deal done before they play San Jose next week. |

Nope, not gonna happen at the deadline. If you listen to Burke, he says that he doesn't deal at the deadline because you always overpay. It's not gonna happen, my hipster-doofus friend. Burke needs to stay the course, and concentrate on the goaltending now. |

Yes they do. More often in the off-season but yes, they do happen.
