Nash doesnt look like a 40 goal scorer to me. His contract makes him one of the most over rated players in the league. Luke Schenn is 22 and is going to get much better. A number one or two D is always going to be more valuable than a FORMER 40 goal centre.
- Jimmy_T

Nash could score 40 on regular basis if he was playing in a good team, the Jackets got the worst scouts in the league, they wasted so many top 10 picks, Nash never got a good player to play with him

Steve Simmons is actually advocating a Kessel-for-Nash deal, but how does that at all answer the Leafs needs?

In my opinion, any deal for Nash needs to be done in the off-season. With that contract, and that talent level, it would benefit Columbus to open the market up to more teams. Teams that miss the playoffs, or don't do well in them, might look at a big change that a Nash trade would bring.

LA has the best package to offer for the TDL, but a team like Toronto or Philly might make a nice offer this summer. Mason needs a change of scenery, become a young back-up to a veteran goalie. Bryzgalov needs to find his confidence in himself, and the defense in front of him.

I'd prefer Philly go after Suter via free agency, or another top level d-man via trade if Suter signs elsewhere. A JVR for Schenn swap also makes more sense in the summer. Jack Johnson would be a good pick-up, if he were available for the TDL.

I dunno. A guy like him seems to thrive in anonymity. He'd have that in Columbus.
- Urethra Franklin

True. Really says a lot about players who want to play were there is no direction or hope of accomplishing anything. Real players want to play where they can win.

I remember when Simmons called for Pat Burns to be fired. Never read or listen to the guy since, he's a total dooshbag.

Its like the people who used to deny that the Oilers were hard partiers. Those 80s teams were great, but ask the locals, those guys partied their asses off. Its probably the only reason they never set a lot of team winning streak records: they couldn't go that long without getting wasted.
- GuyLaDouche

Yea I mean I know athletes, especially in their 20's party, but there is a lot of stuff people have seen first hand that rubbed them the wrong way about the way Richards and Carter carried themselves. It was even worse when Lupul and Upshall were here.

It absolutely had a very large part in the reason they were traded.

Somewhere, Jeff Carter is laughing his ass off. Its completly unconsciable that the big H signed his two best players to 10 year deals and then turned around and traded them. Guy is the biggest piece of ___ in the NHL.

Uhhh. I'm pretty sure Nash is better than Kessel, but I'd rather have Kessel because of the similar production rate and 2 million less on the contract.
Oh, and whenever the camera pans to him, it reminds me of Michael Keaton in Beetle Juice.

Phil Kessel doesnt really have anyone to play with , Certainly not a Brassard at centre or a Carter to create more room. In fact, a very legitamate case could be made for Kessel for the Hart, no one has more points with less teamates. Watch the Leafs and you see the other teams best D shadowing him for 60 mins. Look at the room Lupul gets b/c of how focused the other guys are on Phil. Its a joke. Lupul is not a top 5 league scorer. Peoples hate on for the Leafs means Phil doesnt get near the respect he deserves. Since OV has gone AWAL its between Kovy and Kessel for leagues best winger. The guys is unreal. Some how he is under rated. And he is a way, way more talented player than Nash.

Put him with Giroux and he might score 50 a year. Which is why this whole Nash/Philly thing is so interesting! Highly unlikely, but interesting for sure.

I'd take Daniel Sedin over Nash, Kessel, OV, or Kovy anyday of the week.

Kessel is extremely talented, and has a better shot but Nash is a whole different breed. He's able to drive the net and is next to impossible to knock off the puck and for that reason, he's more valuable for a team. We can't confirm this yet, but I suspect Nash would be a lot more useful in a playoff run.

Just wait for the new CBA. I'm pretty sure they're going to include a 1 time no penalty buyout.

No need to buy him out. He'll be fine, just needs his confidence. Upgrading parts of the D in front of him will help with that.
