I hope he demands a trade

I highly doubt anyone would commit to such a brutal contract.

That's the scary side of Holmgren. I wouldn't be surprised if he traded 4 1st round picks plus JVR and Schen for Weber, and then again I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't. The man has shown zero hesitation in doing whatever he had to do to get a player he thinks this team needs, whether it means overpaying in trade compensation or salary.

Homer hasn't made many trades where he vastly overpaid. He has handed out some huge contracts, but that's as much a function of the Flyers as him.

In other news it looks like the boos pissed off a few other players (JvR, Giroux).

It was a cut (not continued directly from the question) so it could be an attempt to stir the pot byCSN. Either way not a smart thing to say. Pissed me off.

I get it, but I'm hoping what he said in English didn't translate properly, at least they way we're taking it.

They simply can't spin what he said negatively, unless they choose to cherry pick part of the quote.

I dont think his contract is that bad as long as he turns things around. I know the term is longer than what most ppl wanted but it was a necessary evil to get his cap hit reasonable. If he can play like a true number one guy then im fine witb a 5.6 or 5.8 (cant remember which one it is) cap hit. And if you look at his stats since the new year he has been playing much better with a gaa of 2.39 and sv % of. 922. If he could just be a little more consistent i really dont have any problems with his deal.

The beginning of the quote was about him having a poor game and needing to play better. It was calm but self-effacing. But that makes him sound too sane and normal so lets just put out the one sentence at the end.

Exactly. The quote has been intentionally shortened to place it out of context and people, as usual, are just taking the bait.

I realize I'm a horrible Philadelphia fan. But I've never understood what good booing your own players ever does.

It is amazing how the media female dog's it about guys who don't you anything during an interview and now shred Bryz for talking. He has to play better no doubt, I believe getting on the road for the next couple of games is a good thing for the team.

I know it's been said a couple times here prior but the big difference between Ilya's current situation and Phoenix is that we play a full on attack style versus the defensive style the yotes play. He'd probably have great numbers in LA, TB or Minny. Maybe TB would take him, they need a goalie.

You are correct but the Pronger trade has always been one that I hated. The equivalent of 4 1st rounders for 1 year of Pronger which resulted in the golden parachute over 35+ contract that Pronger received becuase Holmgren couldn't let him go after giving up the farm for him.

It also reflects the complete lack of patience in developping their own defensemen. Losing Lupul doesn't bother me even though he bounced back this year. It was losing a promising high upside 1st round pick defenseman (Sbisa) who is now playing 20 minutes a night with the ducks and 2 other first round picks which (may or not have been defensemen) might be contributiing to the team on EL contracts. Instead our top 6 defensemen are all acquired from other teams via trades or UFA. The Flyers will never have their own weber or suter because in the unlikely case they would draft him, he'd never stick with the team.

They can be pissed all they want, Bryz deserved every single one yesterday. I feel bad for him because you can tell its tearing him up but yesterday was indefensible.

What I do like about that'll that it shows his teammates are not giving up on him

The Pronger deal was to win immediately. They came close. That's why I don;t have huge issues with it.
