I didn't see a second of Pens/Flyers today as I just got home, but how substantial are these Nash rumors? I just don't see the fit for Philly if they are giving up JVR and one of the young guns (Couturier/Schenn). I don't see Nash as a need for Philly. Stay the course, your roster is fine long term.

Howard Eskin@howardeskinReply

Report out of Canada flyers Acquire D Pavel Kubina from Tampa pending league approval. Still won't be done. Want Rick Nash from Columbus.

- mydoglicks

Eskin is a moron.

The only reason people listen to him is because he was right about Richards and Carter on a hunch.

Flyers dont want Nash. CLB wants Bob and JVR. CLB is the one pushing the deal.

The D acquisitions could also be stockpiling so that another one of them could be moved. I have no idea, really.

The Kalinski scratch reeks of him being next, and that's a nice option to have. Finally. It's been a while since the Flyers had a relatively full slate of NHL forwards and could deal from Adirondack without potentially hurting themselves.

It's possible. No idea what Holmgren has up his sleeve at this point. A move for Nash would gut the current roster, and hamstring the franchise cap wise long term. I have mo interest in that.

It's been said that Howson is pushing Nash on Philly. That sounds more realistic than Holmgren going after him, but who really knows.

I'm with you...stay the course.

Did Howson invite himself to Holmgren's luxury box to hear about a player he wants nothing to do with?

Unless it is Bryz and not Bob. JVR, Bryz, Cobie or Carle and Prospect (even Cousins) for Nash and Mason

I don't have any interest either.

All we can do is sit back and watch.

I still think the Kings are the best fit for both teams. Although if the Jackets got Schenn/Couturier and JVR that would be beneficial to them.

Columbus wouldn't want Carle. He's an impending UFA that would have no interest signing there most likely.

Dude they still have a 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th round pick this year. What is the problem? Seriously? Grossman is 27. I like that deal much more than the Kubina trade, but he's a righty and has a good, hard, shot. Personally, it was getting tough see players like Mezzy and Carle struggle because they had to take care of their jobs and another's on the ice. They have 6 vets that can now be a unit. How much longer could the team go on giving up 3,4,5,6 goals a game? Hopefully this instill confidence in the D as a group and will bring confidence to the goalies. What I'm worried about is Nash. I'm afraid we will tear down the team again for a guy who makes Crosby money, who isn't (when healthy) Crosby.
- Flyers1218

Grossman is also a UFA. If he was an RFA or under contract for next year, I'd agree with you but age is irrelevant when they don't hold his rights after 20 games. Even with Grossman and kubina the team will continue to have games like this because the problem run's deeper than just 1 or 2 defensemen. The defensemen we had already and the forwards need to make smarter decisions.

Regarding draft picks, the trade deadline hasn't passed yet and if the Flyers had any patience with drafting and developping defensemen the Flyers wouldn't have to give up picks this year because they would've addressed this 2-4 years ago in the draft.

Wouldn't be nice to have a young defenseman like Luca Sbisa who is on an entry level contract and able to play 20 minutes a game like he is for the ducks. Maybe the Flyers should try drafting someone like that and sticking with him for a few years. That way they wouldn't be trading multiple draft picks every year for rentals.

According to cap geek, with the addition of Kubina, and figuring MAB returns to Adirondack, it leaves the Flyers with under 1 million in cap space.

Is it me or has Carle not been the same since Pronger went down. Pronger seems to have that affect on his partners.

Stay the course is the way to go. The worst thing the Flyers can do is to make another trade designed to help them this year rather than the future.

Sunshine,

with a 1.74 GAA and .937 SV% for Skelleftea this season good for 2nd in the SEL this season.

Basically sign him again (should've never been let go to begin with imo).

Wrong person to ask. I'm Carle's biggest critic. Not a fan of his game.

He has to cover for his partner too much when he is paired with the rookies.

Whitney is a pretzel. Carle is durable at least.
