Two good prospects? I'll listen to the argument that Geoffrion is a good prospect. Debatable, but for the sake of argument let's call him a good prospect. Slaney, on the other hand is not not a good prospect. He's 23 and got a good look in Toronto (AHL) in 2009-2010, and since then has been, with the exception of 9 games a year, stuck in the ECHL. He has 2 points in the AHL over the last 2 years. Not what I'd call a good prospect. Seems the odds are against him ever being a fixture in the AHL, and the NHL seems like an impossibility.

Unless Suter or Weber are moving before the deadline, this move doesn't do anything for them. They don't need an upgrade @ penalty killing. Slaney has a chance to be a decent bottom 6 fwd, but Geoffrion alone for Gil is a good deal. A 2nd rounder + Slaney (whom will @ worst make Hamilton better) is an absolute steal.

Only the short run matters.

I want to respect your opinion, but I can't. Are you sure when you say Slaney is a bottom 6" and "Geoffrion straight up for Gill", you are talking about the same players all of us are????

The Preds are positioning themselves for a playoff run. This has NOTHING to do with Weber or Suter leaving. Your first mistake.

The PK has been below average this season as a whole. So wrong.

Slaney has been shipped around to three different teams now in 2 years. He is in the ECHL and hasn't done anything in the minors to say that he will EVER be on an NHL roster. So again wrong.

Why don't you just worry about your own team and keep praying to God that Elliot holds up. You seem to know nothing outside of your own market.

With all due respect, any season but this one you'd be right. However, our PK is atrocious this season, and we have two pure rookies on defense. This trade was an absolute necessity for the playoffs.

I don't know if the regression of the PK has anything to do with Coach Peterson stepping down, but he was the defensive coach all those years when, even as an expansion team, Nashville had a pretty solid defense. Our defense is weak this season. Rinne is making them look better than they are. I thank God we have Rinne locked up for 7 years, and that we know he's not a one year wonder like Mason.
