I was arguing the "Long list of successful ex Sabres" point. Your list really isn't long and just because they happened to be on one team that won they cup doesn't neccessarily qualify them as successful to me. I just hate the "players always leave hear and become great" argument because it is rarely accurate. - maddog
Players that leave here do better. How is that not accurate? |

Okay, I can spell out "Penis" but if I type in Richard Jauron's name I get a censor? Wtf? |

The censors are right to erase mention of Jauron! |

I didn't even think of that when I typed it. It is the correct anotomical and medical name, maybe it hates slang? Vagina. |

Players that leave here do better. How is that not accurate? - sambarugh
because it isn't.
There are dozens and dozens of players who have left here and done nothing. A few happen to have been acquired by great teams heading into the playoffs and were fortunate to win a cup. Some players have left and had great careers. Some haven't. The same can be said for all teams and the same can be said for players that we acquired. Some came here and did well, some didn't. I just don't like the overly dramatic generalization.

The problem is when either side states it as black and white they're open to being wrong. You have to a) be specific and b) ask whether the player did better or went to a better situation.
Satan didn't do better personally, he went to a better team. Same thing with Hasek for sure. Their numbers didn't improve, they just became complimentary pieces of a puzzle.
Briere did not do better as a Flyer than he did as a Sabre. He's on a better team that's had more success than us since the trade, but that's not the same thing.
Drury has not done better since leaving.
Campbell I think you could argue has done better since leaving, both in terms of his own play and the team's success. Paille too. (But Paille's a scrub so who cares) |

You should develop a system that will recognize the difference between the use of it as an epithet and the use of it as a proper noun. Make 10 million and cut me 1 for suggesting it.

Players that leave here do better. How is that not accurate? - sambarugh
because its not, you only remember the ones that do.
Look at the 2002 roster. none of those guys are on the team. name the ones that were "successful" after leaving.

Lets say you mention 3 or 4. Thats only 10%. Hardly enough to qualify as players who leave here are successful.
you can play that game with every sabre roster for the past 30 years. |

Way too small of a sample to note a trend really. And that is an indictment of a team that never trades anyone away of consequence. We have lost a few big free agents and little else. |

The real test will be to watch what becomes of the most noteworthy underachievers, like Stafford, for example, when they are moved, or if they play for a different coach here.
My gut tells me that they would improve either way, but we will have to wait and see. |

I only listened to the radio call last night, but they were saying that Ruff was laying into Stafford and Goose something serious last night. Did anyone see it? What was it about? What was the reaction? |

Sabres fans don't want to hear this but, it seems that the way players play on this team, is the true reflection of their talent. We wish they were better, but they are not, nor will they be. |

Is it sad that Buffalo actually has a shot at Grigorenko now?
Is he clear cut better than Galchenyuk? |

I'm pretty sure a vast majority of under age 30 previous 25 goal scores will improve from the 9 goal season. Just law of averages and sports. |

My opinion is to avoid highly rated russian prospects. Go Highly rated Canadian Center. IMHO. |
