I think McNabb can be a younger, cheaper, better version of Regehr. He proved he can play in the NHL now. I would like to keep Robin simply because it looks kind of bush league to get a guy to waive to come to your team and then dump him at the deadline, but if we can get a 1st for him I say do it.
- Pierceme69

I frankly don't know how you could be worse. Regehr and Ehrhoff have shown me nothing all year long. Especially Regehr.
2 points (o goals) and -13 in 52 games! Is it even possible to put up worse numbers? Every move Darcy made this offseason has to be considered a failure.

I missed a couple pages. How did this turn into "let's trade Regehr." It would be worse than bush league to try to trade him. A lot of work went into convincing him to waive his NTC to come here. The NTC is still there. To ask him to waive it for a deadline deal would be insulting enough that he probably would just to get away from this sh!tstorm.

Then good luck getting another player to waive a NTC to come to Buffalo. Good luck convincing UFAs that you know how to take care of your players. Trading RR would be the ultimate disaster. It would make the Leino signing look like a decent deal.

Hal is so slow, the guy can not skate I don't get what Nash was thinking.. If I was a GM i would much rather go after Leo then Gill
- Therat36

Perhaps Nashville did too, but after hearing 6 consecutive "Hello, this Darcy, please leave a message" recordings, they just hung up.

Darcy is sitting on his phone... and it's on vibrate so he leaves it there.
Or he still over values all of his players too much and thought Nashville's offer wasn't enough... This is all hypothetical of course...

I was being sarcastic.

Sorry I thought I layed it on pretty thick in my post.

We really need a sarcasm emoticon here-
At the same time, I was being honest.

Obviously you don't want to do it. But if you could get a good haul for him, and if Regehr supported the deal, why wouldn't you do it?

Hal Gill = Stop Gap. He blows otherwise and will cost you big games.
- Buffalo--Sabres

Well he was on the ice in the last minute of a SCF game 7. Must not blow that bad.

Furthermore as much as Halak was responsible for disposing the Capitals and Penguins in 2010, Gill was right there. He was the reason that Crosby, Malkin, and Ovechkin had no room to work with. He was fantastic.

This came up because Montreal got 2 players and a 2nd for Hal Gill. People then started saying how we should trade 2-3 defensemen if that is the going rate.

i think you are fixing the present and not thinking about the future.. you have to consider the image of the team and what you did to get him to come to the city.. then you turn around and crap on him by asking him to waive his NTC less than a year later..

I am not going to say that Regehr has been awesome, but you aren't going to find his value on a stat sheet.

I wouldn't say that, but he also has 10 more points in 8 less games. Does he make collosal-type bad give aways that show how young he is? Yes 100%. On the whole, he's better than Regher though.

The simple fact is that the Sabres have zero shutdown defensemen.

If RR want's out and is dealt to a team making a true cup run I dont see how that would look bad for Buffalo..

Gill reminds me of a guy I used to play hockey with.

6-4 180lbs soaking wet.

You'd skate like hell and make a move and end up one on one vs him.

You'd think you had him beat.

Then he'd poke check the puck from you from like what seamed like 8ft away.

On top of that, you would really see his value come playoff time if the team made the playoffs.

He had no value last night. Not that anyone else did either, but he was noticeably standing around for a few of the goals.

If he wants out it's a non-issue. We're talking about Buffalo asking him to waive.

Yeah, I can see having him a bottom pair goon-type, but other than that, he's pretty worthless. He doesn't shutdown anyone, I haven't noticed any opposing forwards avoiding the front of the Sabre' net because of him, he doens't score, he doesn't transition the puck.... What does he do well?

Buffalo should sign Gill next year.

Not the Sabres though, the Bills. Apparently Gill was an extremely gifted and highly ranked prospect QB who just happen to choose hockey.

I have seen a ton of players that normally would cut to the net or go flying behind the net to come out the other side peel off completely into the corner to avoid being splattered against the boards.
He is an expert at that.

we must be watching two different teams..

Regher has not been the Shutdown dman he was touted as but he has been no where near as bad as grags on his best days.. Regher is not a point getter and never was going to be so pointing to his goals and assists is just useless. He is a -13 (or whatever) because he is constantly on the ice when the other teams better players are on the ice.
