The players I know all hate plus minus and think its a BS stat anyway. Perfect example is Gragnani. Grag's is what, a plus 12 and Nash is a -17, or close.....silly stat.

I read a story on line that said 85% of former Wings season ticket holders, when asked why they gave up their seats answered "Because Homer doesnt like their style of play...and ...well..he knows EVVVVERYYYTHING!"

That may been the funniest post I've read on this site over the past 3 years

When will we ever learn, that part of being a Sabres fan is being frustrated and for as long as they have existed say “wait til next year”. All of want the big deal, we all want the superstar, but it never happens. So now we have an owner with money to spend and most of us danced with delight on July 1st, well once again we wait. Everyone wants or somehow expects Darcy to make that big deadline deal. Again I think it will be disapointment and frustration on the 27th. Darcy has maintained that the cost of doing business on the 27th is much higher than at any other point in the season. It for that reason players like Roy, Stafford and Boyes will be in blue and gold on the 28th, because Darcy values them at higher price than the market will bear. So we can all scream then for Darcys head on a platter. We will likely get that but not until May. Pegula had his hand forced by previous ownership, into keeping Darcy. So he gave him the keys to the car and Darcy ran it off the road, he was given his chance to play with an open check book but has caused it to be over drawn. I'm sure Pegula sees that and a new GM will be here come spring. As for Lindy, he is part of the issue, but also part of the solution. Seeing Stafford tune him out, reminded me of talking to a teenager. Yes he was tuned out, but its the players, not the coach. Like I said about frustration this will be part of our frustration for years to come. Terry loves Lindy, which is an issue unto itself, but Lindy ain't going nowhere ala Larry Quinn. He may not be coach but will have a role in guiding the organization, like it or not. So as much as I hope for a major move, none will happen. But I'm a Sabres fan so I will hope and live with frustration.

Not nearly the expert you purport yourself to be.

Myers = good, Miller = good, Gerbe = 3rd line player at best, Kaleta = just about outlived his usefullness, and Vanek is anything but lazy.
That's just IMO only.

For those that say you are either great right away (by 22 as the mythical number apparently), or you never will be, I have question.

How long do you give a player to show his talent?
One season?
Half of a season?
20 games?

Zero patience is just as bad as too much patience.

Someone said Pronger: I'll summarize my earlier post. Ask St.Louis How many Cup they won in the 9 years they waited for Pronger to mature into his own body.

There was precisely one bad move made with free agents and trades this past offseason, and that was obviously Leino.

As far as the core, well, we all know that should have been blown to bits a while ago.

If you are judging each player by how many cups he won, it's going to be very difficult to sign guys based on that guideline.

Again, how long does a player get to show he is a quality player?

Seems like for a few of you, it's roughly the time it takes to shower and shave.

Further, so because Buffalo is a ways away from competing for the cup, it means that a. Myers is a big part of why they stink and b. it means they should trade him now because he won't help when the team is good enough to compete?

Leino can't be successful if the guys around him aren't. How well has Stafford performed this year? He's been an underachiever as well. It's not coincidence to me that they put Leino on a line with Pommer and then he started getting points. If you want a guy with talent to perform, you have to put him with talent. Not with the likes of Gaustad and Kaleta, or McCormick and Ellis. That's also been where Boyes has been playing all year.

It all comes down to the fact that we have too many wingers that can score and not enough centers to give them the puck so they can do so.

That is all 100% on Lindy's head, to me, Goose.
His line shuffling and combinations leave A LOT to be desired.

I don't think he's calling Pringer a bust, and I'm not calling a Chara a bust; however, it takes the better part of a DECADE for guys of this body type to become what you want them to be. If you're Detroit you can sit and wait. If you're Buffalo and you desperatly need a real center....

we locked him up for a long term contract so we didn't lose him like ottawa lost chara.

pronger went far with the blues, but they had an older team and he was a younger guy, they chose to trade him, that was their choice.

Still can't undertstand why Ruff broke up Leino/Roy/Pommer.

I think Ruff tries too hard to balance out the lines rather than match skill with skill, and grit with grit.
