Campbell, Briere, Satan, Paille..... - Full Throttle
Thats a weak list. Campbell and Briere never won anything and neither has been greatly successful. Satan? Seriously? And Paille is an extra on the Bruins Cup winning team. Calling him successful is like calling Rob Johnson successful because he was on the TB Bucs when they won the Superbowl. |

Did anyone else see Stafford get a ear full from lindy? Stafford was saying something like yea whatever coach. Seems like another sign lindy has lost this team. - Cpilc
I would park Stafford in the press box and let him watch |

you asked which ex sabres..... Campbell won with Chicago. Briere is really good, Satan beat Us in the playoffs and Paille was on Boston. Hasek went to detroit...
In all fairness, all ex-sabres go to good teams that have a legit shot at the cup. Nobody thinks that Hasek, Paille and Satan and Campbell were key cogs to any championship team. The only recent success story of an ex-sabre is Danny B. He is legit, He is good. |

When talent stops listening to the coach, you change out that coach. It might be in LIndys best interest anyway. He can take his skills to a team that doesn't seem as uncmotivated and petulant as this team seems to be. - Full Throttle
I've never seen a bigger collection of dudes that don't give a sh*t than the guys on this team. We've had bad teams in the past, but at least they show signs that they care. Where was the chippy play and frustration during last night's stinker? Who is punching holes in the wall in the locker room? |

Again, since Regier holds onto his players no matter what, the sample size is kind of small.
Either way, Ruff is a horribly overrated coach. In 14 years, his success has come in two bunches. The first period was when he took over the team built by Muckler and coached by Nolan and rode Hasek to success.
The second was the post-lockout Briere/Drury team. That team was predicted by many to win the Cup and were pushed around and eliminated in the second round by Ottawa.
The rest of his lengthy tenure has been consistent underachieving and mediocrity. |

I was arguing the "Long list of successful ex Sabres" point. Your list really isn't long and just because they happened to be on one team that won they cup doesn't neccessarily qualify them as successful to me. I just hate the "players always leave hear and become great" argument because it is rarely accurate.

They collectively have given up. That stinks of a void of Organizational Leadership. If Lindy can't break the Apathy, then he needs to go. If he isn't part of the solution, he is part of the problem.
Talent isn't the real issue. Whiel I agree we can use a top flight center, we need top flight leadership. Legit Leadership. The sabres have yet to fill the void Drury created when he left. I don't see pommer as teh same type of leader Drury was. |

They don't. I was being argumentative.
Briere has been the only one. Maybe Hasek in the regular season for Detroit.
Campbell is decent this year for Florida. |

I agree with this 100%. We need new leadership both on the ice and from the coaching staff/management. |

I love Briere. He's my favorite Sabre since Lafontaine. I hate that we ever let him go.

Satan was good for Pitt. He singlehandedly beat the Sabres. |

Anyone else hear about this... Montreal fans were cheering when Chara took a puck to the face and collapsed and bled all over the ice. - JVince117
It's not right, but then again, Chara did try to kill Pacioretty.
I have a hard time hating Chara since I saw pictures of him dressing as a 7 foot tall pink bunny so that he could cheer up kids in a hospital. |
