yes. 1st step is to find a center better than Vanek's talent level. Read: someone like Getzlaf. - Full Throttle
I don't know that Getzlaf is more talented, but he's the right type of guy for the job. His 8G to 31A ratio shows he's the exact type of center we need. Someone who's going to distribute. |

It's amazing the amount of venom and vigor you have for a guy making $1.4M that actually tries every time he hits the ice.
Nobody is in love with the guy here. They are in love with his effort.
That said, if he ends the year with under 10 goals, he will have one more year to rectify that, but again, he's making $1.4M.
LOTS of bigger fish to fry, literally.
I do remember you actually made one post toward the end of last year giving him credit for playing well, or was that someone else? - kingcong39
I NEVER liked him...never.... |

Pominville is by 1 goal. At the end of the year I would bet vanek finishes with more goals then pommer taking nothing away from how good pommer is playing though. - Brockv
Or... Pominville is by 10 points. |

You were awfully quiet the 2nd half of last season and the playoffs when he was playing very well.
Again, all the anger for a guy making so little who, on the scale of things, is about 1%, if that, towards the reason the team stinks.
Makes sense. |

His 10 additional points say differently. I bet you Vanek won't pass Pominville. Pommer works hard every shift. Vanek doesn't. |

We beat them at their game once.........that doesnt prove anything really. No, you cant argue their success thats true, but I do not find them very entertaining at all. I dont like watching Red Wings games cause they bore me. Lidstrom is a once in a generation player for sure.
They win 3-1 and its a ho-hum game. Boston beats you 4-2 and beats you up while doing it, far more entertaining if you ask me. - Homer
I'm just the opposite. Boston is beatable simply with some mental fortitude. Detroit,, Vancouver, and others all did it this year. Boston plays an intimidation style game. If you stand up to it, not even go blow for blow, and take the attitude that you can have the Brad Marchands of the world run rampant with all sorts of intelligence insulting bullpoop, the puck's just going to end up in the back of your net. If you try to go blow for blow with them, you'll lose. That's what they want you to do. Their whole style is to goad you into playing their game. If you exhibit that it doesn't bother you, it's like the bully in the playground. If you don't whimper or cry out in pain, they leave you alone because it's no fun anymore. The teams the Bruins have trouble with are the ones that can still make plays after taking hits. They have no answer for them. I'd much rather watch the skilled team that laughs in the face of the one that tries to start a fight. The ability to shrug it off is so much more admirable. |

That's pretty much every year. He has 134 Goals and 320 assists for his career. He is not a huge goal scorer, which is fine. If he centered Vanek and Pominville each of those guys would have 35-40 goals. |

No. I like guys who are productive, no matter their effort level.
Work your a$$ off all you want, if you aren't being productive, whats the point. |

I wasn't saying he's a bad player if that's what you think. I was using his stats this year to show that he's the type of center we need. Someone who can get 20 or so goals but put up 2x the assists. |

Wasn't long ago they were on that pace, or better, with Luke Adam in between them.
Lindy broke that line up to get Leino going. Worst move of the season. |

As much as I would love it. Anaheim isn't selling anything to anyone. They have clawed all the way back to within what? 4 pts?
Bruce Brodreu strikes again!
Getzlaf - not on market
Stastny - not on market
Carter - on marker - horrible attitude and horrible contract
Horcoff - on the market - horrible everything
Those are your centers ladies and gentlemen. |

That's because Boston's style was new, and teams cowered in front of it. This year, your seeing teams figure it out. Boston will not win the Cup this year.
Plus, people act like Boston ran away with the cup last year. They needed 3 game 7's to do it. It was admirable, but if Luongo plays one solid game in Boston at all, Vancouver wins that series. That's how close it was. That's not to take anything away from them, but you are starting to see teams figure it out. |

He gets you 20 G and 60-70 A a year. I'll take that over most. I need a center who can dish it to my talent. He is the guy who can do that. |

He's also really lazy and out of shape, thus the bad year. Proceed with caution with him. I didnt know this either from the outside but that's what I'm told is the reason he is down this year. Has a lil problem with the sauce too. |

Why did Adam get benched from them so early??
he had 20 points in like 30 games. Was he just not good defensively? was he not good on the dot? Was he getting pushed around too much? |
