it must be their style of play..Im sure the fact that the Lions are finally good and that the economy of the entire city has collapsed has nothing to do with it..

I read a story on line that said 85% of former Wings season ticket holders, when asked why they gave up their seats answered "Because Homer doesnt like their style of play...and ...well..he knows EVVVVERYYYTHING!"

We aren't a good team because we lack Good Centers and True Leadership. Period.

All other issues stem from these two problems.

- Full Throttle

Right. We have a talent deficit, especially up the middle, which is why Vanek is our best offensive player.

The Sabres just beat the Bruins at their own game. That's the problem with that style. Detroit goes out and does it's thing night after night and they just pump out the wins.

You could put together a team that's not Euro heavy but plays that similar style of game as Detroit. It is possible. But, you can't argue with the success they've had. I'd rather that any day of the week. It's still highly entertaining hockey. Even in is 40s, Lidstrom is intriguing to watch.

- HonkFortheGoose

We beat them at their game once.........that doesnt prove anything really. No, you cant argue their success thats true, but I do not find them very entertaining at all. I dont like watching Red Wings games cause they bore me. Lidstrom is a once in a generation player for sure.

They win 3-1 and its a ho-hum game. Boston beats you 4-2 and beats you up while doing it, far more entertaining if you ask me.

The problem with this statement is that he isn't our best offensive player. He probably should be, but he hasn't been for a while this year. Pominville is.

yes. 1st step is to find a center better than Vanek's talent level. Read: someone like Getzlaf.

I like the way the guy skates, got no problem with him in a Sabres jersey..other players have totally wore out their welcome though

Best of the 3 signings last summer. I was more of a Regehr fan early on, but he has been presented with countless opportunities to make an impact in games and he keeps letting me down. There was a few week span when he had a bone-crusher a night, but since then he's been quiet, even for a defensive defenseman.

I'd take a whole team of Gerbe's over a team of Staffords any day of the week.

Pominville is by 1 goal. At the end of the year I would bet vanek finishes with more goals then pommer taking nothing away from how good pommer is playing though.

He is still a better offensive player than Pominville in my opinion. Pominville is a better player overall without question. You must have missed the back and forth we were having where I said as much.

It's amazing the amount of venom and vigor you have for a guy making $1.4M that actually tries every time he hits the ice.
Nobody is in love with the guy here. They are in love with his effort.
That said, if he ends the year with under 10 goals, he will have one more year to rectify that, but again, he's making $1.4M.
LOTS of bigger fish to fry, literally.

I do remember you actually made one post toward the end of last year giving him credit for playing well, or was that someone else?

Yup, for the first time Pomminville realized he needed to contribute more. Vanek will still end up with 60+ points

and Zubrus scored a goal for Pommer, so they're kinda even
