Gerbe goes out and works his ass off night after night. That's more than be said for pretty much everyone not named Pominville.
- HonkFortheGoose

yup..I got no problem with Gerbe

I dont know who is gonna want some of our contracts, outside of the Flames, how many teams are that stupid??
- French-Connection

Some of the guys have contracts expireing this year and with how many games that are left in the season the other team would not have to pony up that much cash since the sabres would have already footed most of the bill. Other players like roy can be trade since 4 mill for a skilled player is not much and he still has 1 year left on his cap friendly hit so teams would jump on that. Leino would be harder to move but a team that might have trouble hitting the cap floor might go for that for a song and dance. Players like sekera and stafford could easily be traded based on past performance and current contracts which are both friendly. Sekera and stafford both are young both have reasonable contracts with a few years left on them and both are skilled players regardless of what buffalo fans think. Stafford has the ability that most players do not have but his motivation is lacking for sure. Teams would certainly gamble on both of them. Leopold is another trade assett that has another year left on his deal that is a puck moving defensement that can and has scored as a offensive defensemen. The sabres have alot of options for trading these guys and stocking up on tons of draft picks to dump salary to have funds available to make moves in the next 2 off seasons on fa and trades to better improve the team in the long run. The question is wether darcy has the balls to do it or if we are going to get rid of dracy and replace him with someone that has the balls to do it. It would not take long to rebuild with Vanek,Pominville,Myers and Erhoff as the cornerstone of the team to start with.

So he's not the fastest guy around. Who cares what you se eis what you get. Hes a plus player who scores 30-40 goals. He's in the trenches, working hard making things happen. If he had a center worth a damn, you would see more production. So he's not Stamkos or Alfredson. Who cares. That guy is good. The best player we have. He's already #7 all time for goals scored. Surpassing Satan, Rene Robert and Mogilney. You don't get there by being lazy.
- Full Throttle

That in a nutshell is why we aren't a good team. He is the best goal scorer we have. He definitely isn't the best player we have. Pominville is probably our best player because he plays on the PK very effectively along with his scoring. I'm not saying he isn't a good player, but if he had Gerbe's mentality he would be unstoppable.

Vanek, Myers, Ehrhoff, Ennis, and maybe even Kaleta might have a word to say about that...

In a 7-2 loss Myers and Ehrhoff were both E and they both had 22 mins of ice time.

- JVince117

Ehrhoff or Kaleta I might agree with. The others, not so much.

I'm not really bagging on Vanek because he has produced, but he does have a tendency to float out there throughout games.

Myers looks too lost to play hard. He doesn't know if he's coming or going half the time. Ennis a lot of the time is just there. No passion. He just seems to be going through the motions. He's been better since being put on a line with Gerbe. Funny how that works isn't it.

Detroit wouldn't be interested because they don't play that style game. Why would they want a guy like Kassian?

I'm all for taking a team that's been successful and using them as a model. If I had to make a choice, I'd pick Detroit over Boston any day of the week. Detroit has been way more of a consistent franchise over the years than Boston has.

- HonkFortheGoose

see, I wouldn't. Detoit is way Euro heavy and just don't play a style I enjoy watching. Yes, they win and that's hard to argue against but I'd rather be the Bruins than the Wings just based on style of play and entertainment value. Heck, even Red Wings agree to a point, they have trouble selling out games, even playoff games.

Ehrhoff isnt a gladiator every night either. He's stepped it up lately sure...where was he all year though? He's finally playing hard and its to late.

I agree wholeheartedly. I might even say Ennis has looked better since he moved to center.

Detroit even has Windor, ON 15 minutes away and they can't get Canadians to fill their building for them, like we depend on (*sarcasm*)

Last year they had playoff tickets on StubHub for less than $10. Hockeytown my ass.

because they been winning 25 years now, its no big thing out there..has nothing to do with the style..I'd rather be playing like Detroit over Boston anyday

This blog reminds me of

9000 bouncing balls being dropped down a stairwell

So many ideas being thrown around. Nothing will ever stick.

Synopsis:

-Lindy has lost control of the team and needs to be removed from the bench
-Regier is a horrible GM that overvalues his players and holds on too long
-Black is a PR guy
-Pegula has a ton of money but isn't being instructed on how to use it wisely
-This team is so underachieving everyone's expectations that one does not simply watch Sabre games anymore-- they look for who they can use as a scapegoat for each loss.

-IDK about you guys, but unless this team changes roster very quickly; I'll be rooting for Nashville to win it all very soon.

The Sabres just beat the Bruins at their own game. That's the problem with that style. Detroit goes out and does it's thing night after night and they just pump out the wins.

You could put together a team that's not Euro heavy but plays that similar style of game as Detroit. It is possible. But, you can't argue with the success they've had. I'd rather that any day of the week. It's still highly entertaining hockey. Even in is 40s, Lidstrom is intriguing to watch.

A 10 year deal with a NMC says you're right, like it or not. A buyout isn't even feasable.

We aren't a good team because we lack Good Centers and True Leadership. Period.

All other issues stem from these two problems.

He was playing hard for a few weeks before he got hurt too. I feel like once he settled in he really looked good. He was standing up for his teammates too. The first couple weeks were rough, but he's really turned it around.

it must be their style of play..Im sure the fact that the Lions are finally good and that the economy of the entire city has collapsed has nothing to do with it..

I read a story on line that said 85% of former Wings season ticket holders, when asked why they gave up their seats answered "Because Homer doesnt like their style of play...and ...well..he knows EVVVVERYYYTHING!"
