Definitely. You can just tell how much disdain Laviolette has for the local beat guys. When he does an interview on NBC, or another outlet you can see how different his demeanor is.

I would imagine that Laviolette sends Holmgren and Snider an email a week -

Richards came into the league and played with a distinct style that made the fans love him. He was mean, threw huge hits, played his heart out every shift.. And he did that up until about 2 seasons ago. He seemed to become deflated. I was the biggest Richie fan. Hell I still think he is a heck of a player, but anyone who hasnt noticed a distinct change in him as a player isnt being honest with themselves.

***ALL MY OPINION***

- jak521

That's how I feel as well. At no point did I mean to insinuate that I think Richie is a bad player. Imho, somethings happened to him along the way. He really looks disinterested. I wonder, and it's purely speculative, if the other nuances of playing in the NHL have caused him to lose interest. He seemed like a guy that would just shut up and play and now the media, events, fans, expectations etc. seemed maybe to have worn him down.

Did you see Richards got into a fight with Martin Hanzal, who is a huge guy like 6"6" 225, he isn't a fighter but he pounded Richards like a nail.

The thing was Richards did a very selfish thing, the Kings were on a PP, and were setting up in the Yotes zone when Hanzal hit him high, Richards immediately dropped the gloves, and play was stopped as it looked like the Kings were going to get a scoring chance.

Exactly Butsy... i.e the Kings fan that was trying to say Mike Richards and his 28 points this year was a steal for them.

Btw, I know that team doesn't score and nobody really is having a good year over there, but what the (frank) happened to Mike Richards. The kid was a heart and soul player, who not only could put up the points, but had every intangible. I've watched him so much this year (thank you center ice) and he just doesn't have it anymore. Looks like he doesn't even want to play anymore. He looks dreadfully out of shape. It's a shame.

- Flyers1218

Apparently that guy isn't a frequent reader of the Barry blog I just read
Alot of the actual hockey stuff he said sounded very familiar
Have fun Kings fans, we didn't towards the end

Exactly. I usually don't mind the trade offers, but put some thought into it at least. It isn't fantasy hockey. There are contracts, salaries, picks, and most of all another team that has this guy called a GM, who if he makes enough bad trades and signings, he gets fired... thus causing his life to be miserable as his family panics. I'm sure most teams would LIKE another defenseman and would LIKE a nice checking line and would LIKE those guys to be the best at their respective roles. I'd LIKE to actually play for the Flyers and be a multi millionaire, but it ain't gonna happen. Just sit back and enjoy Grossman and whatever else may roll our way.
- Flyers1218

I agree. Like it or not we have to live with our goaltending and we have enough scoring. Paul Gaustad is on my on my wish list and I wouldn't mind another defenseman but if Homer can't make another deal, that's okay. What I am grateful for is that he made the deal right now. We now have just over a week to get a good look at Grossman and see if he's enough.

Sarah Beaker nailed it here...

Here at CSNPhilly.com, we may not be professional, but we're definitely a team. We've got a tight-knit collection of players that, without whom, none of what you watch, read or see here would be possible. And like a pro team, we've definitely got a healthy dose of character -- and a lot of it comes from Flyers insider Tim Panaccio.

Well since the Pens can't beat the Flyers in their new barn, coupled with Philly's home struggles you guys have a punchers chance tomorrow.

Richards should have stored it in his memory bank for later in the game, or season. Doing what he did while your team is on the PP is selfish imo.

Until Laviolette said, "Seriously", you might take it all as him playing along. But he got his thoughts across.

Funniest part is, when Tim asks each question, Laviolette looks the other way and you can almost see him willing his blood pressure down.
