most of these proposals are ridiculous, but cap wise we'll have 6mil at the deadline, so lots of scenarios will work

IF Toronto were to get Nash and that's a big IF you'd be looking at a Schenn,Grabovski, Kadri+ and Nash & Carter as you stated in the past would commend an even more ridiculous return. What Toronto has to offer will be trumped by more talented assets other clubs have to offer. So unless Burkie plans to give Buttman a 'free blow jobs for a year' card, expect him to land elsewhere. I can see Toronto getting Selanne or Carter which is great, with his contract he will be their 'Goldmez' with a more offensive prowess. That being said I think Selanne ends up in Boston. TGIF

Assuming the price was right, I'd definitely take on Carter's contract for four reasons.
#1. for $5mil, it could end up being an absolute steal for many years.
#2. he'll likely become LeCavalieresque.
#3. if it doesn't work out, the Marlies could use a good center
#4. Burke will call his buddies in the Irish mob and that contract will just....disappear.
