i know i said 2nd last week, but things are heating up

Isn't the draft in Pittsburg? Do you really see them dealing their pick? Do they even have their 2nd?

Why deal Blum if there's a chance Suter doesn't return?
- Urethra Franklin

Because they still have to prove to Suter that they will do what is needed to win. Besides it is Ellis they need if Suter blows town.

Probably trying to keep it realistic but a team that is rebuilding outside of Hall, RNH, Eberle and their 1st this year I don't think there should really be many untouchables.
- zach parise9

Yeah, realistically Tambs probably isn't sending any calls on alot of those players but hopefully is listening to them. For example while someone like Paajarvi could still turn into something (looked alot better since his last return) I would trade him for a young defense man with equal potential. Are top rookies are obviously out, Jones and Eager are perfect 3-4th line high energy players. Smid and Gilbert work great as a 2-3, 3-4 combo.

No of course not.. But Clouts is an idiot. Everyone knows the only 4 things untouchable in Edmonton are the 4 things you just mentioned.. Unless they trade that pick for a Schneider or Bernier type package.

Thanks, I would be surprised if they did move the pick but stranger things have happened.
I think considering what is available Tambo will get a fair package back for Hemsky. As the deadline nears teams get jumpy and as much as people want to bash him he has a skill set that teams look for. Yes he is not having a great year but the guy has a proven history and a .79 career ppg playing on some very crappy teams here. His shoulder looks to be fine now, seeing that he has taken some big hits lately and keeps going. He is finally starting to play with some fire is a good thing too. Gm's know what Hemsky is all about adn what he can bring.

But with the return, it would fill a different hole, wouldn't it?

Trade Hemsky, put in Omark, if he does great awesome, if not draft Grigs or Foreberg at draft and slot them in. Easy.

If the Oilers just replaced Barker with anyone who had the ability to just play the puck off the boards and out, they would instantly become a much better team.

Man, could you imagine if Edmonton won the draft lottery and took Yakupov in the draft. That'd be some scary offensive depth.

It's like plugging holes on a sinking ship. One hole might be bad, but you can abandon it to fill the gigantic hole that is causeing the ship to sink.

In the Oilers case, the offense that Hemsky can bring, can be replaced through the draft or the emergence of a prospect. The blueline is hole that is similar to what happened to the Titanic when it met that iceburg. You have to fix one now, and one is much worse of a problem then the other.

Besides it opens a spot on the Oilers IR when Hemsky is permenently tabbed in on another teams.

Big difference between 'not being shopped' and 'untouchable'

Holy poop.. That is a long list of guys not being shopped for the team in 2nd last place.. but I'm sure you know what you're talking about Clouts.
- SameOld

Which ones listed do you think the Oilers are actively trying to trade?

even with the 2nd pick, theyll be stoked. pick grigorenko. id actually take him regardless.
if he was to turn into the real deal, a big, strong skilled center could end up bein way more valuable to us than another smallish scoring winger.

ben37--great location. hes ridiculous and the best player in the game right now.

More likely 2nd overall, but close. At least you made a Flames fan laugh, which usually requires a whoopy cushion, three red crayons and a can of Red Bull.

That will never happen. Draft is in Pittsburgh. If its dealing a first, it better be something alot better than a soft, fragile, uninterested Euro like Hemsky that will be a free agent. Richard Park has the same amount of goals as he does. Hemsky doesn't benefit Pittsburgh long term or short term with that deal.

With the amount that I watch both the Oilers and the Penguins he really isn't. He just isn't the Penguins style. All flash and very little crash. It would be like a younger version of Kovalev.

He is more likely to land on the IR with a borken toenail when entering the Pens locker room for the first time after a trade. Richard Park has the same amount of goals as Hemsky does. How on earth does that help Pittsburgh? He is better than most of our wingers when he is interested and healthy. Problem is, one of those two things are always missing.
