In what world are you living in. Goalies may be a dime a dozen - good goalies are rare and special. The Hawk have not had good goalie since Belfour. They continue to treat the position as a revolving door. For an organIzation that trries to develop talent through the draft, they have been woefull at the most crucial postion in this sport. I have not lost faith in CC, but until they fix the defense in front of him, he will struggle due to his style. Scorers cannot ans should not be your only core players, IMHO.
- ksilvy58

In what world? Look at the goaltending leaders this year. Halak, Elliottt, etc. There is very little difference between the elite goalies and everyone else. You see former backups becoming top goalies all the time. You never see 3rd liners become scorers. EVERYONE needs scoring.

Besides, Miller's career stats are pedestrian (very similar to Marty Biron's stats over the last 4 years). His rep is very much a product of two years ago (and the olympics). That was not the norm in his career.

Found it interesting that Block was reporting that the person most teams are asking for is Jimmy Hayes. Which makes sense why they returned him instead of say, Shaw. No ten-games-without-a-point to make other GM's change their mind.

I think I know what you are saying and I some what agree but...If the Hawks purposely put a productive player in the minors during a brutal slump just to make that player seem less desirable , then the team has management problems that are worse than most on here claim.

Bowman and Q need to figure out how to put a team together.

You obviously don't pay money to go to games.
- Lido_Shuffle

That's only because I live in Montreal. That said, I used to be a Habs season ticket holder, still go to about 20-30 Habs games and 10-15 Sens games per year and several "Q" (the league, not the coach, lol) games per year as well.

Spending the kind of money I do on Habs and Sens games, I have more reason to be upset than anyone spending money to go to the UC. That said, I spend it to watch, learn and enjoy the game. To each their own though...if you're not happy with the product you've purchased, that's 100% your right and I will not disagree with your perceived value...just saying mine is different.

Scott in tonight, Frolik out. It's straight jacket and padded room time for Q.
- Ogilthorpe2

Frolik is the exact guy they need against NY. Dump, chase, forecheck like they do.
Not a 6 minute guy who will watch 88 and 19 get smashed, then maybe get in a fight with Prust when it is 6-2 with 2 min left.

All of Kane's perceived problems/issues aside, straight up trade of Kane for Miller is not a good trade. And I am not one of his biggest fans. Let's just say that Miller has a lot of good hockey left in him--Kane is still only 23 (?). For a team that is so conscious of public perception, that sort of a trade has way more potential to haunt the Blackhawks (and their image) for a long time. If that happened, the story would go from Hull thru JR, Belfour, Amonte, Chelios, the post-Cup purge, and then include Kane.

I don't see it happening.

Yes on Dorsett and Kubina.

- AL SEC0RD

Not disagreeing with you on whether it would be a good trade or not, but I don't think this would hurt the Hawks image or public perception at all. You lose Kane but gain one of the best if not best US goalie in the league. He would be perfect fit for the hawks marketing and public perception. The hawks haven't had a big time goalie since Belfour, and when you go to the UC you still see a lot of Belfour jersey. Having another big name goalie would be a huge sell in Chicago.

That won't happen either because it will be a susupension for sure.

BTW Prust was a great pick up for NY.

unless Frolik is going somewhere in a trade, this is so mind-numbing.

Why?Why?

As Lester Bangs said to young William Miller in Almost Famous: Congrats kid. You got here just in time for the death rattle.

For me talking to people outside the Chicago fan base I get a better reaction to the name Kane unless Im talking to children or teenage girls since they seem tto be his biggest supporters in Chicago. If anything Kane gets crucified from most typical Hawk's fans. Just look to the lovely debates we've had here in the past. When I talk to my out of state friends or read national publications ie THN and ESPN they more often then not praise him and overlook his "soft" play and consider him a talent.

But thats just my perception.

Hes far from not tradable though Give me Getzlaf or Backstrom Speeza Giroux Tavarez in other words a world class talent at center to line up behind toews and Hossa centering Sharo and whoever on line 2 and I make the deal.

The maddening with this team is that they could also conceivably win their next 5.

I suspect the real Hawks will stand up following their next win, which I believe will come tonight.

- andru2797

Before they went on this streak I joked with SteveRain that I hope they lose every game on this trip just to seem him and some others go off the deep end..

Tonight, for the pure, simple fact that I'm feeling positive today.. I'm with you.. Tonight is going to be a win for the Blackhawks!!

Good points--can't disagree that they would market the crap out of Miller--that is, Miller the American. I was thinking primarily of the age difference, along with the fact that not only is half the Cup-winning team gone, but now they've traded the Cup-winning goal-scorer. Maybe folks would not react so negatively, but I just sense how these stories get constructed over time, with much of the context and particularities getting lost along the way. Trading Kane would be one more element to add to the myth--a myth that obviously helps some fans cope with at all on some level. The Blackhawks are a franchise with longstanding, deeply loyal fans who love to hate the team they love. I just wonder how trading Kane would fit into that.

I think most newer Hawk fans overvalue Kane. Old Schoolers not as much. Outside Chicago, where I talk to a lot of people, opinions on Kane are more balanced and slightly less inflated than they are to the average Hawk fan, FWIW

THIS YEAR! Elite goalies stay with a team for years and do not move around. You may catch lightning in a bottle, but you need to look at the body of work over a period of time. Also scorers can develop - See Patrick Sharp as a prime example.

Don't misunderstand...I base this only on the effort I saw last game, and signs that the team is actually starting to pull in the same direction, and that the Rangers are starting Marty Biron, possibly as a motivational tool to get their team "up" for a game that's otherwise not as meaningful as some of their recent wins.

Other than that, gut feeling...I fully admit that.

That said, like I said, gambling is not my thing. Thanks for the offers though.

If this organization, albiet with different front office members, can trade Bobby Hull, Jeremy Roenick, Chris Chelios, Ed Balfour and Steve Larmer. They can trade Patrick Kane.

Furthermore, the only player I would never trade is Toews. Everyone else could be had for the right price.
