Oh well glad they got a W tonight. It looks as though the last two games the defense is really coming along. Keeping shots down and thats a real positive.

If I'm Tampa, I'm taking a chance on a 3rd insted of an older prospect, whose marginal bottom 6 talent at best and is also "damaged goods" at the moment.
- EKolb13

How is he damaged goods? One concussion, playing regular minutes, no?
Anyway, you prefer the 16 year old, who you can't imagine, let alone name? Besides, Smith isn't the only example of an older prospect that we could offer a team (like Tampa) so don't hang me on my one example.

When the Hawks can put up a win streak, or at least show some consistancy for a while, then I'll get excited.

As of now, I'm still on the fire Q and Kitchen bandwagon.

I like the new pairings on d....Keith/Olsen and Seabs/Leddy. They seem to be working nicely. I also continue to be impressed with Olsen, Hawks may have found something there.

Don't get too excited over Olsen or you'll give JJ a stroke.

EDIT: I'm sure Twitter is driving him mad right now! lol

It doesn't mean that I don't want the Hawks to grab another d-man because I do but I do like him so far. He's the opposite of Leddy, not an offensive d-man but not afraid to hit, take a hit, get dirty, etc. I like the idea of pairing him with Keith. It's a good thing for the Hawks if he can continue to play and improve with the big club. No reason for JJ to have a stroke.

When Monty and Hjalmarsson come back who sits? My vote would be Leddy and Lepisto split time, Olsen stays up, O'D is insurance, and Scott hits the bricks.

Ok, come up with a better example.

Concussion is the key word here. With what has gone on over the last few seasons, It's a possibility that teams are leary of dealing for "could be" talent that have had negatve effects because of a concussion. It's at least something to consider.

As for talent like Smith, whose older and is marginal at best, and know that he won't be much more than a bottom 6 player, a team knows what they are getting there.

With a third round pick, a team gets another bite at the apple, and a chance to find the next Datsyuk like gem hiding in the lower rounds. At least the probability of ending up with another Smith with a third round pick is favorable.

With that, what sounds better to you? Ben Smith, or a pick that may get you another Ben Smith or better?

no im not talking in circles
this team is not as talented as the cup team and needs a few pieces
i personally believe they could win the cup with one top four defenseman and two physical forwards even with our average at best goaltending

- molly2522

Let's be hypothetical for a minute.

What if tonight is one playoff game in a 7 game series and the Rangers ramp up the intensity and physical play and have Lundqvist in net every game. Do the Hawks measure up physically up front and is the goaltending tandem good enough? I say no on both counts.

So they need some more skilled size at forward and improvement in goal. That's what it will take to take a run at it. And thats where Nash could have a huge impact. And why I would sacrifice Kane if the Jackets would take him.

For as much slack as Hammer gets he's a great shot blocker on a team that doesn't block many shots (although they did ok tonight). Based on what we know of Q, he's never sat/scratched Hammer or Leddy. I think their both in. Without any moves/trades I think you're pairings are 7/8, 2/4, 5/6 although it seems like Q likes Olsen so he might (I stress might) stick. FWIW Olsen played 20 plus minutes tonight, more than Leddy/OD/Lepsito.

Kane for Nash no thanks. Sharp for Nash would make more sense. But hawks are NOT going to trade Kane so you guys can stop speculating. Anyone want to throw down money that he stays. I would be a rich man if i bet everyone here

If Q has anything to do with it, Leddy plays, O'D and Scott split time, Lepisto grabs his sleeping bag and heads to the press box and Olsen comes back on a bus to Rockford.

If Q has any say in it, you know that's what will happen.

Go figure the best two games the Hawks played on this trip were against two of the better teams in the league Van and NY.

I think that's probably more a product of being paired with Keith than anything else. That said, if he can hang with Keith, all the better. More than anything, I just hope these last few games have proven to Q that Lepisto should never be passed over in favor of Scott on the blue line.

That's what I fear. If they trade for another big bodied D-man, then I'm fine with Olsen back to the A, but as i just said, I think Lepisto Has proven that he's a far better option than Scott.

Have to find the right player and not many that fit the bill are available. Except Nash apparently.

But I really do think they need an upgrade in goal.

I agree with everything you're saying. If the Hawks can acquire a defenseman, when everyone is healthy, one of either Lepisto or Scott is going to have to go to make room. It will be interesting to see who that is.
