JJ love your stuff I have personal ties to ESPN Radio Chicagoand the Kubina rumor has serious legs and the Hawks would love to get there hands on Purcel as well, talking draft picks, minor leaguer and one player off current roster. - DeepThreat
Who do you think they have in mind? Bolland? |

Bickell is my guess...Bolland is not going anywhere. He's too valuable both to the chemistry and line balance of this team. |

Bolland would be too high of a price to pay, in my view, for a rental player. Bolland is kind of maddening though--for Blackhawks' supporters and opponents. He seems inconsistent and his faceoff percentage, as oft-noted, is not so good for the so-called premier defensive forward. Maybe he is the Claude Lemieux-type--so-so regular seasons but a great playoff performer, but I think he is somebody you need to keep around. |

You are right on Purcell, my sources have told me that, they also like nate thompson and have liked brett Clark in the past. - John Jaeckel
Purcell & Frolik almost have identical contracts (exception: Frolik with one more year) so those two could cancel each other out financially.
Nate Thompson would be a better fit though - he would be a great bottom six and help out the PP. |

My mistake there--you were talking about Teddy Purcell. Not sure what his contract is, but if you're talking Purcell and Kubina, hmmm. That's tough--offensive stats are similar to Bolland's. |

If the Hawks lost every game from now until the trade deadline I wouldn't bet they would trade any of the untouchable players...
Keith, Seabrook, Bolland, Sharp, Hossa, Toews and Kane.
That was the list in the summer of 2010 and it could change this summer but I sincerely doubt if it will before then. |

I like Miller but goalies are a dime a dozen. - Slump Buster
In what world are you living in. Goalies may be a dime a dozen - good goalies are rare and special. The Hawk have not had good goalie since Belfour. They continue to treat the position as a revolving door. For an organIzation that trries to develop talent through the draft, they have been woefull at the most crucial postion in this sport. I have not lost faith in CC, but until they fix the defense in front of him, he will struggle due to his style. Scorers cannot ans should not be your only core players, IMHO. |

I would go as far as to say I notice more of a difference in the Hawks game when Bolland is out then when Kane or Sharp are out. |

I think the whole Carter "Attitude" thing is overblown. He was lied to by his boss, and then traded to a podunk midwest college town and the worst team in the NHL. He didn't ask to be traded, in fact he wanted to stay. I'd be upset too.
And as for his production dropping....please. He had a 115 goals his last three seasons.
I think it's all irrelevant. The Hawks aren't taking on that contract. The GM, and apparently everyone on this board, value the salaries more than actual talent. If I thought Carter was the missing piece, and I don't think he is, and the Hawks could get him for prospects, picks and Frolik's useless contract, I'd do it in a minute.
But it ain't happening.
Found it interesting that Block was reporting that the person most teams are asking for is Jimmy Hayes. Which makes sense why they returned him instead of say, Shaw. No ten-games-without-a-point to make other GM's change their mind. |

The maddening with this team is that they could also conceivably win their next 5.
I suspect the real Hawks will stand up following their next win, which I believe will come tonight. |

I dunno...I had as much fun watching the 2010 team come together in the years leading up to the Cup as I did watching them complete their journey. There's something to be said for the process and how intricate and difficult it is to both predict and plan. That's why it's so compelling to follow. |

Perhaps worse than that over a little longer stretch. Their schedule: @Rangers, @CBJ (who could very easily beat the 'Hawks on home ice), StL, Det, Dallas, @LA, @Ducks, Tor, @Ott, @ Det, @ StL, NYR . . . . |

You won't hear may say it can't happen...
My guess is Salak starts on national TV on Sunday morning if they drop the next two games.

Have a good feeling as well. The hawks are a desperate team and the rangers have played a few complacent games, though they are tops in the league. IMO the tougher grind is through the west. The east is rather top heavy. The rangers might be sleeping on the Hawks tonight and if the Hawks play their game it could be a huge victory to regain confidence. |
