All of that sounds great but ill pass on Nash.

Hopefully the Flyers will be able to add another young defenseman.

Nash with Giroux wins you a cup quicker then getting some poopty 3rd pairing defender, rental.

I agree. If he made $6.5mm, maybe....$7.8mm is a huge ticket

The length of his contract does you no favors as well. I think Nash is a very talented player but thats big time money for any forward. If the Flyers were struggling to score goals I wouldnt be against it. Thats a big committment to make in one player. There are too many question marks surrounding the defense that need to be addressed before adding a scorer, imo.

With what defense? The Flyers would be no closer than they currently are if they add Nash. The team defense and goaltending needs to be much better to even have a chance.

YEa and we need to use that money if its available to fill the Pronger void provided he doesn't return. This is so ridiculous on so many levels.

Jakub Voracek took part in Thursday's skate without limitations and could return against Buffalo. "I'm not used to missing games," he said. "Hopefully I'll go tonight. If it's not going to be tonight, it'll be Saturday. We'll see." Voracek missed Sunday's game with an upper-body injury, but he appears to be likely to return.

That's the other problem. But, if he was making the same as Briere, you could possibly look to move Briere in the summertime or if there's a compliance buyout, utilize it on him.

I would have no problem with doing that "if" it was an option. You would be getting a younger player in Nash with much more potential. This defense is a mess right now if you ask me and it needs to be priority.

If you could foretell the future, but since you have no idea if and when the CBA will be resolved this summer and whether or not it will include a buyout clause, you can't make a deal thinking that.

Unless Nash is the one engineering a trade, I don't see how Columbus can trade him. He brings much more value to the team, than they'll receive in a trade (because of that bloated contract).

And its not like his contract handcuffs the team...

I can't believe this notion is being entertained to quite honest. People just lost their minds believing this.

Pierre McEdzo was just on WFAN radio talking pucks, he said the Rangers are head and shoulders above anyone in the East. Not earth shattering.
He expects the Flyers to be a first round exit, due to suspect defense, and poor goaltending.

His sleeper teams in the East are Pittsburgh and Ottawa, and Nashville, St. Louis in the West.

Race for the Hart trophy two horse race between Malkin and Lundqvist.

Expects Nash to land in LA.

I'm hoping the Flyers are not on his list of teams, this keeps the Flyers from being idiots which is needed at times.

You have to entertain all available players. I just wouldnt put my chances in getting Nash very high (if im the Flyers). Defense is a priority bc Pronger may never play again, Timonen one year left, Carle is an UFA at the end of the year. We need to upgrade the defense at some point, thats the priority.

They've had a terrible season, but I don't think it's as doom and gloom as everyone makes it out to be.

Carter has had an injury-riddled season. Wisniewski missed games because of injury and suspension. Steve Mason has been terrible.

The still have a good core of: Carter, Nash, Umberger, Johansen, Calvert, Wisniewski, Methot and Tyutin.

They have some dead weight to shed and some holes to fill, but a couple of trades could have them decent again soon.

If he thinks Nashville, St Louis and Pittsburgh are sleepers he's an idiot. They have to be 3 of the top 10 teams favoured to win the Cup.

Hey it's his opinion and he could be right but anybody can make such blanket and not really earth shattering statements. I guess Ottawa is his only going out on a limb comment.
