Guess you haven't done your NYR free agent homework.

I think Parise is great but I wouldn't go neear him with a ten foot pole. Something about ex-Devils, big contracts, crossing the river to MSG and mediocrity having a common thread.

- MidnightMarauder

I know plenty about the Rangers living in the capital region in NY, and Parise is no Bobby Holik.

Fasth is definitely a sleeper to keep an eye on.

I thought he looked good in this year's WJC's.

- MidnightMarauder

His ankle injury is a little bit of a worry. He was impressive in 2011 WJRs. led sweden with 4 goals and 6 points in 6 games.

This rumor has legs, whether you agree with it or not.

The Hawks have a serious goalie issue and they might pull out all of the stops to pry Miller from Buffalo.

- MidnightMarauder

It's going to take a heck of a lot more than Kane from Chicago's end to get Miller in return.
Not going to happen.

Kane is 23 and near a ppg player over his career. His playoff numbers are even more impressive.

I'm not saying that Staal, DZ, and Stralman are bad it's more like a trickle down effect. If we have a third pair of Staal and Kubina we can give Girardi and Mcd less minuets because we can roll 3 lines of D

Agreed, solidifying the depth would go a long way on the blueline.

Holik was awesome before he arrived at MSG. Gomez was a solid 70 point per season center...until he signed to play for the Rangers.

I'll pass on Parise, seriously and besides he isn't leaving Jersey. They'll find a way to re-sign him. If somehow he doesn't stay where he currently is, I see the Leafs paying an absurd amount to sign him.

Exactly, just because he is having a subpar season doesn't mean his overall body of work is forgotten. The Sabres need to shake it up a bit and what better than bringing in a former Stanley Cup champion and local boy made good?

Gomez broke 70 TWICE with NJ. the 84 point season was the exception to the rule where he had 33 goals and usually averaged 15. He scored 70 with us once, then nearer to 60. The reality is that it was a garbage unjustifiable signing to begin with.

Nobody disagrees with that, although he has played well since shaking the concussion cobwebs.

However, Kane is a locker room problem and and all around dbag, and Buffalo is going to be staying clear of that those types as much as possible.

To be fair, neither Holik nor Gomez can hold Parise's jock.

Neither are the level of player Parise is.

Not disagreeing with you on that, I just think enough is enough with trying to buy players, that probably don't want to play here anyway.

Richards wanted to come here and although he isn't setting the world on fire, his leadership has been immeasurable.

Parise would just be another mercenary signing, I'll pass on that.

I was just trying to prove a point, I don't like ex-Devils playing for the Rangers.

It was a terrible signing but I won't lie, when they signed both Drury and Gomez, I was excited.

Boy, how wrong I was.

In Buffalo, people were ready to put the GM on the rack at the time for not resigning Drury.
In hindsight, it looks like a smart decision.

Drury, seems like 10 years ago when he played for the Rangers now.

Drury was a good player, and good teammate. The obvious problem with that signing was that he never was a $7 million player, and as he got older and more beat up physically, he couldn't even perform to a $3 milion level anymore. At the end of his tenure with the Rangers, he was pretty much a fourth line plugger being paid like a Superstar.

Absolutely, horrible signing, but after the Rangers somewhat impressive performance in that year's playoffs, they were going for it and there were other teams willing to pay Drury almost just as much.

On a related note, a $7 million annual cap hit five years ago is so much more prohibitive than it is now, given increases to the cap.

Fair enough- I admit I was pumped when they signed both as well...but in hindsight (they say that's 20/20) it was bad from the start. It was a gamble on a player that we thought would only improve- and we lost that bet.
