Who comes out though? Eminger? He has been solid all year

I think we are gonna get Kubina.

I know it's not an exciting and sexy acquisition, but I think Torts likes him and it's gonna happen.

- jimbro83

I'd rather that than Tyutin. I don't want Tyutin's contract.

If they decide to move a defensman in another trade then I think Kubina could be on the way. Unless they want to have Eminger be the 7th guy come playoffs

None of those players are on the level of Loui Eriksson. Kevin Shattenkirk was having a fabulous rookie season and Erik Johnson was just coming back from injury but was a former 1 pick. Both teams were taking a risk. I don't understand how you can compare this type of trade to trying to acquire Loui Eriksson. I don't think you realize how good this guy is. Dallas isn't a team that likes to spend money so here they have a guy who is signed for another 3 or 4 more years to a very reasonable price. The guy has averaged about a PPG. Why doesn't Dallas just fold up the franchise and trade Jamie Benn while they are at it too.

You don't need to inform me about the quality of every player I mentioned in that trade. Stewart almost scored 40, the previous season to this deal though.

I also wasn't comparing Eriksson to any of these players and yes I am aware of how good he is.

I am also aware of Nieuwendyk being a brutal GM and could very well be enticed by an overpayment by the Rangers.

The Rangers can afford to throw in two prospects, a first and Dubinsky without it seriously affecting the current balance of the club.

In Dallas' case, a team with a poor prospect pipeline, getting a major return for a player-- who is very good but by no means a top ten player in the league--would suit them well going forward. They are not going to qualify for the playoffs and getting pieces in place for the future, for one very good player could make sense to them.

In the Rangers case, it gives them a very good winger who has a history with their free agent prize Richards, and it rounds out their top six quite nicely.

I wouldn't mind doing this for a player with a reasonable cap hit.

The odds are unknown to slim, in regards to this even happening. But to say they would never do this is being a little shortsighted.

AGrossRecord, Martin Biron is the first goalie off the ice at Rangers practice, a sure sign he'll start vs. Chicago tonight.
- jimbro83

Why, when the Rangers don't play until Sunday? Biron should get the nod against CBJ and let Hank go against a team with a powerful offense.

The Hawks are in a terrible slump but they can easily hang five on Biron tonight.

The left side of the blueline is as rock solid as any in the league: McDonagh, Del Zotto and Staal.

But the right side is a little thin, although Stralman has been a revelation back there.

I didn't forget to mention Girardi, I just automatically assumed you guys knew I think he is the team's best defender.

But, and although I like Eminger, that third right defensive spot can use a little fine tuning. Kubina, if the cost is reasonable, is a good fit. A big guy, who Tortorella knows, that plays physical enough to give him a decent amount of ice time. That is key because they can't keep giving Girardi the amount of ice time he has logged all season.

He needs to be as ready to go as possible, starting mid-April.

Understood but with the worst team in the league coming to town in a few days and a few days off between that game and their next game, Lundqvist could have had a nice stretch of days where he didn't play.

Starting Biron against a talented team, on a current elongated losing streak has disappointing loss written all over it.

If that is the deal Howson wants, Sather mine as well delete his number from his speed dial.

That is absurd, no way in hell should the Rangers even consider that.

Just for arguments sake, what if you replaced Del Zotto with this year's first round pick. Dubinsky, Kreider and a 1st for Nash?

And Giroux is the best Flyer of all-time, how anyone is allowed to write about anything hockey while being affiliated with ESPN, is flatout criminal.

Not one person knows that disgrace of a sports network knows theit bumhole from their elbow, in regards to hockey.

Barry Melrose is more embarrassing than Mike Milbury and that is saying a lot.

Im honestly not interested in it. As good a player as Nash is, its not worth taking the risk not being able to sign our youth going forward.

That is a trade worth considering but even still that 7.8 million dollar albatross is something that will play a huge factor in Nash coming here or not too.

Lol no it doesn't make any sense. Why would they trade Loui Eriksson for unproven commodities? Dubinsky isn't nearly as good as Eriksson. The same package it would take to get Nash would prob be the same to get Eriksson. I understand what you're saying with regards to them having a weak farm system but that doesn't mean that they should trade away arguably there best player to restock that farm system. To me that doesn't make any sense. Yes Dallas needs to rebuild but it doesn't have to come at the expense of Eriksson or Benn. Those 2 guys are central cogs of that team. I especially don't see them moving either one considering they just traded away Neal and lost Brad Richards to Free Agency. The 2 players I mentioned are guys you build around not TRADE AWAY!!!
