Apparently in news day mangano said he would let Wang develop it privately before he opened it up to public bidding. Check isles section in newsday

There are just so many people in Nassau County who need to be paid off to make ANYTHING happen...it's actually worse than the city, if that's humanly possible...

Our 3 stellar pickups this offseason really looked good tonight, let's recap.

Pandolfo with no one within 10 feet of him skated face first into the goal post gashing his lip and making a fool of himself. Rolston fanning on a great scoring chance in front of the net with nobody around. Turning the puck over 4 out of every 5 times he touches the puck. Reasoner coming down on a 2 on 0 and not making a move and just shooting it off the outside of the post. At least Pandolfo kills penalties these other two meatheads have to bounce. They're facking terrible

Reasoner and Rolston are garbage. Someone before me said we need to put them down and not the tell kiddies or something along those lines, I agree.

Pandolfo however, looked great tonight even if he did the stupid goal post thing. He looked like a man possessed out there on the PK. I don't care what anyone says, I still think he was a great role pickup.

Pandolfo has been everything you could expect out of that role. And he plays with heart. I can't hate the guy. He had a great game

Nino haters would have you think it was his fault. Nino misses out on a point because his linemate is a mental cripple. Funny how that works. Draft him, bring him up, play him on the fourth line with useless bags of poop. Player development 101.

he's 19 and should be in the AHL and will start their next season..i'm not worrying about nino for a while

I wonder if DeHaan and Donovan will both make the team next or will one be moved? Isles have to find some size and toughness on d for next year.
- ses111

no reason to move either of them..they are both 6 feet and great skaters and puck movers...no reason to rush dmen..i do believe that donovan will make the team next season..dehaan shortly after

"Haters" is a strong word. I just want to see him convert a few chances. Nino had a great game.. Reasoner is a turd still. PA had a great game too.

Aaaaaand Bailey had a terrible game. He had an especially terrible shift on the 4 on 4.. gave puck up twice. (See I am not blind to my allegiances)

Rolston needs to be off this team... today.

We all thought DeHaan would be up by now.. probably would have if not for the injury... again. I agree on Matt Donovan by the way.

At least they won. Rolston and Pandolfo are gone after the season. Reasoner can be bought out and run out of hockey. Six points out with Hammer coming back soon (hopefully). I'm still dreaming...

How did a guy this bad ever score 30 goals a year? He is absolutely horrible. I would rather have Hunter.

For those of you who dont have newsday access. The way I interpret the below is that Nassau is saying to Wang "We will work with you to develop a scaled down version of the Lighthouse and maybe get some NY State funding. " Hopefully they can work something out but in my opinion, fluck Nassau and heavily consider one of the other three options he has locally; Brooklyn, Queens, Soffolk (Suffolk being my last choice).

----------

Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano has offered Islanders owner Charles Wang an exclusive period to come up with a privately financed plan to redevelop the 77-acre Nassau Hub before the county seeks other options for the site.

"I look forward to receiving a privately financed plan for a new Coliseum from the New York Islanders," Mangano said.

In the absence of such a plan, "we will have no choice but to go in a different direction," said Deputy County Executive Rob Walker.

Islanders senior vice president Michael Picker told a county legislative committee Tuesday that he hopes the county and the team can develop a plan for a new arena funded with public and private money.

But Picker said in an interview that if the county were to put the site out for public bidding, Wang likely would not participate. "We would have to evaluate it, but I don't think so," Picker said in an interview.

Wang has said the Islanders won't play at the Coliseum past 2015, when the team's lease with Nassau expires.

Picker said the team is exploring several options for relocating the team but declined to be specific. Officials in Suffolk, Queens and Brooklyn, where the Islanders will play a preseason game in October, have expressed interest. "We are exploring many options and looking at many different arenas," Picker told Newsday.

A quartet of Nassau's largest developers announced last week that they would offer a joint proposal to redevelop the Hub, with or without the team.

Mangano has said he will release a new vision for the Hub after meeting in the next few weeks with Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo. The latest moves toward a new Coliseum and a redevelopment plan for the area come after several failed efforts.

Wang was the winning bidder on the privately financed Lighthouse Project, a mixed commercial and residential proposal for the Hub area in central Nassau that failed to garner enough community support.

Voters in August rejected a publicly financed arena to replace the Coliseum.

County and Islanders officials told the Economic and Community Development and Labor Committee that they are considering an arena financed by private and public dollars, including state, federal and potentially county funds.

But Picker said the priority must be on deciding the fate of the Islanders and protecting the 2,300 jobs dependent on activity at the Coliseum.

Team and county officials agree that a decision on the Coliseum must be made quickly, given the upcoming expiration of the Islanders' lease.

Walker said the county must have shovels in the ground before the end of the year. The county, he said, would be willing to sign a one-year lease extension with the Islanders if the sides need additional time to hammer out the details.

Kevin Law, a co-chair of the Economic Development Council, told the hearing Tuesday that a deal can't be struck without compromise by all.

AMac was fairly tenacious out there last night. Kind of funny watching Antropov shrug him off like a mosquito, but he got right back in there.

Decent game all together. Good to see the first and second line play a pretty strong game. I agree with Pandolfo one of the best games he played all year and NAbby well just doing his job.

Refs were horrendous and This Walkom ref who seems to have no clue out there should not be reffing. He is horrible. Embelishment??? I think he just made that one up he missed about a million calls and then made up others. Hey Shanny please do something with this moron. Funny though he refs a lot of Islander games.

Thanks for the heads up on the story, Islandez. Sounds like the ball is back in the Islanders' court. Let's see how serious Wang is about making it work in Nassau.

I am not a Wang fan, but I will give the guy credit where it is due. He has Done more than his part to try to keep the Isles here with two failed attempts. What Mangano/Nassau is asking him to do is to come up with a scaled down publicly/privately funded Lighthouse. Its like starting from square one again but if a plan is developed, then at least he wont have to worry about a thousand steps of approvals because it would be developed along with the county/state. It wont be just "Wang versus Kate."
Furthermore, Mangano says he will release some sort of plan in the coming weeks, im not really sure what that means.

Supposedly, it has been the case all over the league lately that the refs have been ignoring most everything that happens out there. You can blame that on the officials, but I'd guess that some people in high places started doing too much persistent b*tching, and the union decided to give them what they asked for. I'm pretty sure, even though most of us think the refs are the fools, they're not looking at it that way- it's the league that is being embarrassed.
