So what's the feeling in here these days? Trade Nabokov so you can get something for him or keep him and try and make the playoffs?

I understand the desire for playoffs after this long but I think you could get something substantial for him the way he's playing right now. Chicago could use him in the worst way right now.

I'm assuming he wouldn't resign, if he does nevermind...

Depends on what that substantial part really is. NHL ready or prospect? Prospect I say no, NHL ready would depend on who.

Chicago swears they aren't trading for a goalie. Whether or not they are delusional and stupid is another debate. I think you have to keep him at this point. Unless someone absolutely blows Snow's doors off I can't see him being moved unless the Isles lose every game in the next 13 days til the trade deadline.

Good thing though is "loser" points wouldn't hurt us necessarily.

Snow is telling all the media he is not trading Nabby and is confident the Isles will make the post season. In saying that Snow should be looking to buy - Ryan Smyth back to the Isles?? Will Snow try to bring in someone big? Who knows but if he's thinking playoffs one could only think he'll be a buyer. You cannot honestly expect to do anything productive in the playoffs with this current roster. Afterall, we would be playing our good friends from Manhatten.

I say trade him, since I don't see any way he re-signs. The whole point was tolling the contract hoping he'd play well enough to get a decent return...stick with the plan. Not sure how many agree with that anymore though.

Well if they're not they're throwing in the towel on this season because what they have now isn't going to get it done. Has there been any indication from Nabokov on whether or not he would consider an offer from the Isles?

As long as the Isles are in striking distant at the deadline I doubt Snow trades him. If he does it should be for a better than average dman or forward. Forget draft picks. If Nabby can play like this with the Islanders defense what can he do with a good defense?

I think the plan is now at a corporate level. If general chow is looking for someone to give him an arena he needs to show a winner, not a loser. Making the playoffs shows some hope and promise for the team and may help his stance in an arena search. Just a thought, the only logical reasoning I can come up with.

I agree with you but I also see how it would be hard to consider while he is single handidly winning games for your team.

If you could get a good prospect or a high pick I think Snow has to pull the trigger. It would be nice to make it this year but it will be short lived if they do so you might as well stock up on potential. Then maybe in the off season you package that pick/prospect with one or two of your own and get a difference maker to play with the one you already have.

I get the Rolston hate but does every point you make have to include how wonderful Bailey is? Oh wait, it's Valentine's Day, I get it!
- BringBackBalky

let me rephrase the, Why is it that Rolston hurts anyone he is on the line with. Martin and the guy that centers the line.

There is no way Cappy, Weight, Snow or anyone can not say watch Rolston just on shift and think WOW, what a big mistake.

On a couple of different occasions people that cover the Isles have reported that Nabokov is really well liked in (and a big part of) the locker room. Assuming that's true and not just a canned media statement, I would think that it's at least partially rational to believe that he could. But..on the flip side of things, his family is still in SJ so I'm not sure he wants to spend another year away from them on the opposite side of the country or uproot where they've been for his whole career.

But like I said, unless we absolutely loses every, or almost every, single game from now until the deadline..I can't see how they could trade him. I agree with your logic that we could likely get some, at least, decent value for him but this team needs to take a noticeable step forward and trading your hot goaltender at the deadline would send a terrible message to the fan base. Unless of course Columbus wants him for Nash

well obviously its always been his plan but just tried to do it with no money being spent. Now that the Isles are close management simply cannot give up on their team - it wouldn't look good for them at all. But lets face it, when's the last time the Isles have had goaltending like this.... That's the only reason theyre putting up W's.

Me too. I not sure how Snow does not try to add at the deadline if the Isles are close. I'm not sure how he can justify not trying to help the team make the playoffs? I doubt anyone expects another Ryan Smyth move but there has to be peices he can add they will not break the budget or prospect pool.

I'm not sure Patrick Roy can do this with the Isles d. Forget Lin Nabby is the real story.

It's also entirely possible that after spending the season with them and seeing the growth he feels differently than he did when he was claimed.

On Nash- the Islanders were the team I thought about today when all the rumors were swirling. If he was to accept a trade to the Island he and Tavares would create sweet magic. I just don't think he wants to get in on the ground floor again at this point in his career.

4-1 Flames.

If they are in striking distant at the deadline and Snow adds nothing I really want to hear what he tells the media about no deals. He almost has to add someone.

Good bet. Then he will say see I made deals and added to the team. I can see Garth and Charles saying damn were only 6 points out. What are we going to do? We have to trade Nabby.
