Here's what I don't get. Ek is a smart enough guy when it comes to hockey and player's value. If he heard this rumor directly from a source, why not downplay it a bit? Instead of naming all of the players involved (which sounds like a gross underpayment) and stating that it's next to done, etc.; he could have easily phrased it in a different matter to the point where it was only a rumor and didn't sound like a ridiculous offer.

For example: League source says LA and CBJ are talking about Nash. Main parts coming from LA appears to be Bernier and a pick, with more pieces to follow.

This way, if that trade actually did come through, he would still be the first to report the main details and didn't divulge enough details to look crazy. If it didn't come true, it's only a rumor and since only parts of the trade were mentioned, it could still have some legs down the line.

Really? You don't think that he understands hockey or how trades work? By stating that, you are more or less stating that he has never once broke a trade or spoken to a league source. Let's call it like it is. He reports rumors that MOSTLY turn out to be false. However, even if the rumor is false, it almost always offers insight into what the market is for a player, who is on the trade block, and what teams are buying/shopping.

Even if this trade doesn't break, there's a good chance that Nash is traded. Even if this trade doesn't break, there's a good chance that LA makes a trade to bring in some offense. Again, if you can't learn to take this page with a grain of salt, you are simply too young to comprehend its' purpose.....

The rumors are swirling like mad....despite denials the kings rumor is still being backed by a few of my sources.. Also...i Can confirm there is definitely one eastern Canadian team on Rick Nash's small list. And there have been serious talks today
