NY Post says preliminary talks between NYR and CBJ about Nash have started. That would not happen UNLESS Nash has waived his NMC to go to NYR. Sounded earlier like LA and NYR were the teams in pursuit of Nash. That might mean LA is again gonna lose out, like in the Kovalchuk and Richards sweepstakes. Lombardi needs to do something. Highly unlikely he keeps his job if LA doesn't make the playoffs.

No that doesn't. Do you know what preliminary talks are?

I think that TO would be CBJ best trade partners... Schenn, Kadri and a 1st for Nash should do it IMO...this was the rebuild can fast fwd a couple years...

Apparentley I don't and neither does Bob MacKenzie, and I quote:

Understand this, with a player of Nash's stature -- a first overall draft pick, the face and identity of the Blue Jackets' franchise, a world-class talent and Canadian Olympian with an outstanding international hockey resume -- there is no chance that Columbus general manager Scott Howson would get involved in any trade talk for Nash without the player's blessing.

He couldn't. It would be worse than bad form.

Gunnar is injured.. thats why there is a call up, nothing to do with a trade. Leafs have no use for anyone that the Oilers would be willing to give up, especially Hemsky

once Phaneuf gets him on the juice his point production will double.

So why didn't you say that in the first place? just because a team is having prelims with another team doesn't mean much. We saw with Heatley that a player doesn't have to waive his clause for a trade to be 99% complete.

@TSNDaveHodge: Rick Nash says he will veto any trade to a team that is worse than Columbus.

I thought that was funny...

I saw that and chuckled.

Hodge is a funny man at times, at least this one wasn't about the KKK.

Just read a quote from Oilers GM Steve Tambellini indicating he's not trying to deal Nikolai Khabibulin. Are you cereal?

It's like phoning your buddy to tell him you just took a poop, no one really cares.

I Wonder if EDM would do:

Komi + Frattin for Hemsky.

Gets rid of Komi's contract, and lets EDM have a useable D while they develop theirs. Frattin becomes a very good 3rd liner for EDM.

I don't think so. I've been back and forth on komi, but I don't think Frattin is the piece that makes me take Komi. We have plenty of guys like Frattin in the system.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have called up Keith Aulie as Carl Gunnarsson is placed on the IR. Perhaps there is more to it than that? Oilers players and management are making it sound like Ales Hemsky could be dealt at any minute. Is there a possible connection? Stay tuned.

Yeah, uh, when teams believe there is an impending trade, they don't usually go so far as to put guys on the IR.

The incident during practice was reported yesterday, by someone at practice.

Sure maybe Gunarsson gets traded at some point but there isn't "more to it than that". The Leaf would not be Richarding around with their steadiest Dman when they are battling for the last playoff spot.

I thought Frattin was one of the Leafs untouchable diamond in the rough prospects.

But Komi is one of there please take him out of the pile of poop players. Kinda evens out. Komi at 3.5mil cash next two years isn't all that bad though.

Edit: It ain't (frank)ing good either.

who told you that?

Hes a future 3rd liner. Similar to Crabb, but a better shot, and faster. Not as much of a hitter tho.

I was more or less getting at he can't be that good if the Leafs are willing to move him.

Take Gunnarsson as prime example, he was trade bait during the early part of the season and now he's untouchable.

You're kidding, right?

This trade works for nobody.

Columbus gives up the face of its franchise for an injury riddled rental.

Edmonton gets a 7.5 million dollar player that will suck up cap space when it comes time to sign Hall, Eberle, and RNH.

Think about things before you go all, "NHL 12" and knee jerk a ridiculous proposal.
