That seems like a good comparable. - Gunner Staal
It also fits Shero's non-sexy, low-risk/high-reward profile, not saying it should or shouldn't happen, but it fits the bill. |

It all depends on what McPhee's mindset is come deadline time. The Islanders were obviously in a selling mode, the Washington situation is very cloudy at the moment. |

I'm too lazy to read all the posts, so maybe it has been said, but if Guerin was obtained with a conditional draft pick, I would imagine Knuble would be just about the same. - rkrichter2
I think it might be more of an issue of the Caps not wanting to help out a team they might face in the playoffs (and especially the Penguins).
If I'm giving my rival a player who can help then make a playoff run, I want more out of it than a mid round draft pick. Imagine the flack that the team would get if Knuble scores a big goal or two helping the Pens eliminate the Caps? |

One of the Pensblog guys just tweeted that he thinks the Caps have the draft picks, prospects, cap room and the need to go after Nash. Says that McPhee needs to do something big, and Semin will be off the books after this year.

I watched the Wash-SJ game last night. I couldn't believe how many times the Caps couldn't complete a tape to tape pass. On the rush, standing still, it didn't matter. OV feels he has to do it all, and without Backstrom maybe he does, but he is trying way too hard. It would be helpful if someone could get him the puck in stride though. |

I don't know that they need to go get him but I agree with the rest. They have 2 first rounders this year and the cap room. Not sure on their prospects. |

This is a larry brooks article, yes, but there is an outline of asking prices here for Nash it seems - ryman1566
Dubi a prospect and a 1st. I think my package for LA was much stronger. |

If the Capitals got to the point where they were selling off Knuble, I don't think they would care where he went as long as it was the best return possible. The Capitals would obviously be out of it if they were ever to make such a trade. |

Dubinsky is a nice player but So is Johnson and Bernier. Also you have to think that Rangers first will be a lower pick than LA's.
And if I was NY I would have done that deal already. Dubinsky is good but no where near the talent of Nash and a prospect is just tha. Gaborik Richards Nash? pretty scary as well. |

The Jackets would ask for at least one of the following: Nugent-Hopkins, Hall, or Eberle, and I think the conversation would end there.
I just don't think they are good trading partners. The Oilers have enough skilled forwards. They need defense in a bad way, at least IMO. - Gunner Staal

Are you asking if I would do it, or if I think the Caps have the necessary package to get it done ? I'd obviously like to see Nash here, and the 2 #1's this year are a nice bargaining chip. Most would be happy to see Semin exit (the thought is that he's gone after the season anyway, unless he's prepared to take a drastic paycut). I don't know about prospects -- if we're talking non-NHL'ers (i.e. not Orlov, who should be untouchable, etc), they have Kuznetsov but I would hope that they wouldn't be parting with him. |

Put a proposal together for him, seems to be today's theme. Let it make sense for both.
Would you send Hltby to C-bus. (Get the visions of last night's 3 pointer from downtown out of your head with him tho. ) |

What does Biron do for them? - dbell646
Plays goalie.
He is better then the show they put on now. He's not as strong as the LA goalie for sure, but the Rags could sweeten the offer too. Throw a Dman there (Staal?) |

Just remember that the Blue Jackets have to hit a home run with this trade. There is a lot riding on it. They could pack up and move if it blows up like the Carter one. |

Difficult to part with Holtby with Vokoun on a one-year deal and Neuvy playing like a backup/AHL'er. I'm not good at putting together these trade scenarios. My fear is that any legit deal is going to include Orlov, Kuznetsov, Carlson or someone else that I don't want to see them part with. |

Right, but like someone said earlier, they have went all these years and haven't even hit a double yet, let alone a home run. Very comparible with the management of the Pittsburgh Pirates. |
