If you watched Malkin every night you would understand why it's a valid question.

His effortless skating and stickhandling are so similar to Mario, the goal over the weekend where he made the move in tight and tucked it in on the forehand, you could see both of them in that image

Especially for a guy like him because he is only a temporary asset to the team getting him. IF the Caps do trade him, just making the play offs, not matching up against the team he goes to, will be their primary concern.

Regarding you other post... Semin has played better of late for sure and the play of Orlov speaks for itself. He's been good. Who is the big Russian winger expected to make the team next year? Kuznetsov? (sp).

- akane13

yeah, but even though he's been killing it with grown men for the past 2 years now, it's hard to say if European players will make an immediate impact. They've got to adjust quickly to the faster NHL play.

he wont be here until feb 27th

if asham returns does oreilly go on waivers and jeffrey back at center? or does park get sent down?

- nh4442

As long as O'Reilly is on a bus out of town I don't care, it's all good.

With Asham back skating and getting closer, O'Reilly will be press box fodder soon enough

When Asham comes back, they don't need to make any roster moves. Even with both of them, they are at 23 on the active roster (Sid on IR). I don't think TK is officially on IR, so they could even get another roster spot freed up if needed.

I'm not discounting how good Malkin is. He's a great player - a superstar.

But Crosby is the best, most dominant, player in the world right now.

For that reason, it's a silly question.

If you have followed this team and watched them both at the top of their game, no it is really not a silly question. They have different styles.

Right now, Malkin is the dominant player, Sid is injured. Last year it was reversed. If we could see it at the same time from both of them, healthy, then maybe a decision could be made.

If they both played at this level when they were healthy, people would be too busy staring in awe to remember what the question was.

I am at a facility today that had MEK drum that burst and the chemical alarm went off. Haz mat is now here . . . looks like my day just got easy real quick. . . . . so I decided to get onto Hockey Buzz while I wait for haz mat crew to clean it up.

Crosby would be my pick. . . . barely. Malkin is just sick and I hate you John for making us choose.

There is one player I would take over Malkin and that is Crosby. Although Malkin is making strides with the elevated compete level.

I would take Malkin over Crosby. He has showed great leadership as well, he won the Conn Smythe for the pens leading them to the cup. If Malkin was canadian, more people would easily take him over Crosby.

You guys are silly. The question was 'a fully healthy' (insert name). C'mon, there is no one better in the world than a fully healthy Crosby. It's not even a question!

When healthy, Crosby's point totals dwarf anyone in the NHL - and that's with far inferior wingers than Malkin has had.

No it doesn't. If you are talking strictly last year and this year, on an average, that's different.

Mike Knuble has served as a healthy scratch the last three games for Washington. Knuble has three goals and 11 points in 53 games. Retirement looms for the 39-year-old winger. Should the Penguins take a chance on him, hoping to catch lightning in a bottle?

Difficult to understand the thinking with the Caps -- if you intend/are trying to trade Knuble, doesn't it devalue him to put him in the press box ? Also, can't envision the Caps trading him to a rival -- I would think he would head West if he is going anywhere.

- MadCap2008

I'm pretty sure every scout and GM know what they would be getting in a guy who's played as long a career as Knuble. No need to showcase him.

I don't know how you can say that. Malkin is doing this year, what Crosby did last year. He also was better in the cup run(not by much but still), winning the Conn Smythe. I am pretty sure when Ovechkin was dominant, and scoring 65 goals, he was the best player in the world. Then Crosby started scoring more goals, but now it is Malkin!

Honestly, the word John should have used, is motivated. We have only seen this Malkin once. And that was the spring of 2009. He has a reniewed passion, and as a Pens fan, I need to see if it can be sustained. If it is, it makes the choice not so obvious.

I guess I never really looked at Rick Nash all that closely, but I was expecting to see a little better stats than I did when just looking them up.

I know consistent 30 goal scorers don't grow on trees, but he only hit 70 points once in 9 seasons. On a poopty team, but still. Since the lockout season, he's 25th in total points, falling between Mike Ribeiro and Tomas Vanek.

When healthy they are both scoring machines that can dominate a game. If I had to choose I'd take Crosby.

Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby, Malkin....

I HATE YOU PITTSBURGH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its an unreal position to be in, if one had to go at one point. You have to take Crosby just because he is the best player in the game IF he is and can stay healthy. I wouldnt even consider Malkin for Nash, Unless you were getting Nash and many more of the players in CBJ. Im still dieing to see Malkin Neal Crosby line murder the rest of the league to another cup.

Good luck Pitt and Cros on making a full recovery.
