They also have a combined 52 goals so it was probably easy to get those assists...

Chicken or the Egg? A good scorer is the result of a good passer, and a passer is the result of a player who can finish goals. What's your point?

Oh ya I know. I dont watch talking dead but I dont know how many times I have had to tell my friends its not a Zombie show, its a socio/psychological survival show.
- markmark

I'm a pretty big zombie fan in general. Have a bunch of zombie movies, books, video games, comics, etc. I just like the zombie culture, mostly because of the survival stuff and the whole idea of what a completely normal person becomes capable of when put in situation like a zombie apocalypse. But even zombies themselves are pretty cool.

My wife is not a zombie fan. She groans when I put on anything zombie related or even mention zombies...except The Walking Dead. She loves it, and it's because it's not about the zombies but about the people and their struggles and whatnot. She still won't watch bad zombie movies (I suggest: Flight of the Living Dead) but we're probably going to watch the episode from Sunday tonight...and it's Valentines Day.

What is up with Army, Is he still hurt. You can't go from a great 2 way forward with some scoring to injury after injury and now being scratched.. he was a bad buy for Burke..

He has done nothing for us.

- bixll

There was a crazy statistic floating around last year about the Leafs' record with him in the line-up and out of the line-up.

It was a pretty stark difference - their winning percentage was way higher with him in the line-up.

Yeah, don't ask me to explain it.

Lets be realistic. Burke isn't going to able to swindle GMs in deals forever. Would you move..

Tyler Bozak (1.5), Nikolai Kulemin (2.35/RFA) ,Luke Schenn (3.6) and a 2nd round pick for Rick Nash (7.8)

Lineup would look like this

Lupul Connolly Kessel

MacA Grabovski Nash

Crabb Lombardi Armstrong

Boyce Steckel Brown
Rosehill

Gunnarsson(when healthy) Phaneuf

Liles Komisarek

Gardiner Franson
Aulie

Guys like Rick Nash don't come around very often. I like the look of this lineup even with the loss of depth. Even try to add another rental player to the 3rd line

Grasping at straws and wishful thinking that Nash would actually waive to come to Toronto or are we giving up too much?

Or both?

- t_leafs21

That will not get you Rick Nash.

I'd prefer to keep Bozie right now...but there's no chance Columbus would take Connolly.
Also kuli is a RFA...not sure Columbus would take him on without a contract.

Nope I was thrilled about Lupul....I just had no idea he would be this good.
Penner is not like Lupul.....Lupul was coming off an injury...Penner is just overweight and garbage.

- Fakepartofme

Penner is a UFA at the end of this year.

So I wouldn't give up a single asset to get him.

Wont be able to resign Grabo if we get Nash (which we wont be) unless roughly the same amount of cash is going back (which it wont be).
- Fakepartofme

I don't need someone to tell me it's not likely. Just commenting that I think Nash is exactly what this team needs and that playing on a line with Grabo would be a good spot for him.

Grabovski is one of my favourite leafs.

I think you have to be realistic though. He is going to want 5+ per. Is he a difference maker on our team. I think the danger is the fans falling in love with a certain player.

There were two other players who I thought the Leafs should have "sold high".

Anybody remember the names McCabe and Tucker... how did those resignings work out for us. We could have got VERY good assets for them when we chose to resign them.

Keep your true impact players, not "good" 2nd line players. Everyone else you sell high.

- GoneFullRetard

Well I would consider him a difference maker because when he turns it on, or is on a hot streak the team normally wins. I've seen other players I like on the team have a good game and it doesn't really mean squat... Eg. Bozak's 2 goal game vs Philly...

This is insanity.

And to sit Komisarek for six games? He had finally played himself up to a level where, if not worth the salary, he was still a net contributor to the team.

- Leeman4Gilmour

Armstrong isn't fit enough to play ...he's a liability right now. He looked gas'ed during his last couple of games. He's a below avg skater to begin with so let him work his fitness up in practice.

I'll add Mac and Kulemin. In hindsight, with names like Mike Richards and Ryan Ellis thrown around, we should have cashed in on a couple career years.

I know Kulimen has his fans, and I don't dislike him, either. But this is more than just a slump year. He's a fundamentally different player.

- Leeman4Gilmour

I agree with Kuli....last year was abnormal....he'll never achieve that again.

I would also say that this year is abnormal and in the future to expect 15-20 goal seasons from him and 40-50 pts.

I'm not really a fan of the zombie stuff, but like you mentioned, the apocalyptic scenarios are always pretty fun.

The 28 Days/Weeks Later franchise was solid. I'm hoping they fire it up for a third one.

Get Nash and Carter. That would be exciting but potential suicide at the same time.

The Rangers are negotiating with Nash's agent. They have asked for three offers which will be presented to Rick and the CBJ. Odd.

I know that's the general consensus. I guess I just slightly disagree with the general consensus. I think what the Leafs need most (aside from a solid/consistent goalie) is a scorer with size in the top six regardless of position. I believe Nash is more of an impact player than Carter so my vote (wishlist) is Nash. Again, I know its a pipedream.

Why exactly would the offers be presented to Nash?

The only thing he can say is yes or no to a move to NY. The details are irrelevant.

I don't buy that a team in the Ranger's position would be giving up the necessary pieces to land Nash.
