I read the books for awhile but kind of lost track. Don't even remember how many I've read, probably more than the first 60. It's definitely good and grittier than the show. Fearless too, with TV shows they are too worried about killing certain characters or following certain plotlines. I just hope they do the Governor plotline, that was my fav of what I've read so far.

I just hope they hold true and people die as they die in the books.

You gotta read the books. The show does and doesn't follow it. They've been picking and choosing what they want to do. I like the show, but the books are pretty (frank)ing good...the writers don't aim for any happy endings in the book. You can download the complete set in a torrent site, just make sure you have an comic reader, I have ComicRack. Or you can buy a big collection of the first 60 or so. It's 70 bucks, I got it for the Mrs. for Christmas.
- weirdoh

I've definitely thought about it, and downloading it may be the way to go.

I know they don't totally follow the books. On the "Talking Dead" aftershow they actually had the comic creator and they talked about it. The creator of the books actually works very closely with the show as well. I like that it doesn't follow the comics. If it did, then it wouldn't appeal to the people that read the books cause they would know everything that's going to happen. Adding in characters like Daryl and straying from the story keeps it interesting and keeps the comic readers still interested in it

Dustin Penner looks like he's available. He would be a good fit. He's got size and he has some scoring touch. We also wouldn't have to give up a lot to get him. It's not the right time to get Nash anyways. Where would he fit? Bring in a guy like Penner who has some experience.

Yup his 5 goals would be great!
Forget Penner.

- Fakepartofme[/quote

Hmmm. Penner is a proven NHL player. I'm sure you probably said the same thing about lupul when we got him last year. I'm just throwing out some names here.

Oh ya I know. I dont watch talking dead but I dont know how many times I have had to tell my friends its not a Zombie show, its a socio/psychological survival show.
- markmark

Exactly. You should watch the Talking Dead. It's pretty interesting hearing other people take on it.

The link I put earlier uploads the episodes within a day or 2 after it airs so you don't have to stay up and watch it live.

Couldn't agree more. Grabovski is a player we need to keep. I could see Nash playing with grabo and Mac.
- lotempio8119

Grabovski is one of my favourite leafs.

I think you have to be realistic though. He is going to want 5+ per. Is he a difference maker on our team. I think the danger is the fans falling in love with a certain player.

There were two other players who I thought the Leafs should have "sold high".

Anybody remember the names McCabe and Tucker... how did those resignings work out for us. We could have got VERY good assets for them when we chose to resign them.

Keep your true impact players, not "good" 2nd line players. Everyone else you sell high.

This thing at the farm with Herschel was in the books. It's cool that they're doing it this way though, even keeps me guessing so I'm not complaining.

I know, I'm hoping he eventually runs into them again.

MAYBE...and it's just a random guess...but maybe they'll be with the group that the 2 guys in the bar were part of?? That'd be an interesting twist

In the show they haven't gone back to him yet. Not sure what the plan is.

This is insanity.

And to sit Komisarek for six games? He had finally played himself up to a level where, if not worth the salary, he was still a net contributor to the team.

What is up with Army, Is he still hurt. You can't go from a great 2 way forward with some scoring to injury after injury and now being scratched.. he was a bad buy for Burke..

He has done nothing for us.

Lets be realistic. Burke isn't going to able to swindle GMs in deals forever. Would you move..

Tyler Bozak (1.5), Nikolai Kulemin (2.35/RFA) ,Luke Schenn (3.6) and a 2nd round pick for Rick Nash (7.8)

Lineup would look like this

Lupul Connolly Kessel

MacA Grabovski Nash

Crabb Lombardi Armstrong

Boyce Steckel Brown
Rosehill

Gunnarsson(when healthy) Phaneuf

Liles Komisarek

Gardiner Franson
Aulie

Guys like Rick Nash don't come around very often. I like the look of this lineup even with the loss of depth. Even try to add another rental player to the 3rd line

Grasping at straws and wishful thinking that Nash would actually waive to come to Toronto or are we giving up too much?

Or both?

Good point. Grabovski has made it clear he loves it in toronto. Hopefully hes willing to take a little pay cut just to stay.

Sam Gagner is not even close to a number one center. The guy is on a little hot streak. He's a 3rd maybe 2nd line center
- lotempio8119

He has serious upside. Could be a gilmour type center if he adds a little chippiness. But size is against him. So if he keeps his enthusiam he could be a number 1 or 1A.

Get Nash and Carter. That would be exciting but potential suicide at the same time.

I'll add Mac and Kulemin. In hindsight, with names like Mike Richards and Ryan Ellis thrown around, we should have cashed in on a couple career years.

I know Kulimen has his fans, and I don't dislike him, either. But this is more than just a slump year. He's a fundamentally different player.
