Speaking of Jagr he would have to take a paycut for me to even consider bringing him back next year. I have concerns about his age and health. I think his work ethic is good for the younger players to see but I dont know if he is worth the cap hit in the end for the production.

I have concerns. I think it would be a mistake to resign him. This team needs to focus on acquiring and building young talent.

still don't get EDM taking RNH. how are you going to improve drafting small skill guys w/ that back line. Larson has lived up to the hype and I find it hard to believe that RNH was rated that much higher. at some point, needs matter and now EDM is scrambling for dmen, re-signing slugs like sutton...makes no sense
- isaiah520

RNH is filthy. The kid can play and before his injury he was dominating. They still made a very good selection.

They took the guy you have rated as the best player. Obviously they felt that RNH and Hall could be a dynamic duo for a long time, and figured they could land defensemen elsewhere

RW Jakub Voracek did not play with an upper-body injury. Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said that, contrary to speculation, Voracek does not have a concussion and his injury doesn't involve the head. He is listed as day-to-day.

till they get that #1 dman they won't win spit. I'll take larsson...they already have hall, eberele and a few more small flashy types. you can't win in this league that way.

They need defense but alot of their guys were hurt. Their goaltending needs an upgrade. Their a young team you cant expect them to rise to the top just yet. They will be a dangerous team a few years from now.

I also value defenseman but im not taking one 1st overall unless he is the best available player on the board.

You cant have a team of all young players. You need a mix of vets, and Jagr knows how to win. He may be in a slump now, but he is still getting chances. He has shifted his game to set-up Giroux more then being set-up by Giroux... I would say a pay-cut yes, but re-sign him if you have the cap space...

To be fair Ovechkin left his skates and boarded a player and received a suspension. I dont think Rinaldos hit was worse but star players do get suspended for breaking the rules.

I love the idea that you've mentioned -- for a few days now -- of acquiring Robyn Regehr from Buffalo. He has a NMC, but hopeful he'd waive it to come here.
- bradleyc4

I have been thinking about this as well. Gaustad would also be a nice pick up (too bad he is a UFA at end of season and a bloated 2.3M contract) in any deal with BUF. Both players would be great for us but stop gaps. I don't know what you offer for them since I wouldn't trade the farm for them. I wold be willing to part with 2nd rounders (and we all know Homer would be too). But I don't think I could make it worth it for BUF.

Unless you can get concussions that cause you to gingerly hold your left arm into your body while skating off the ice, I'd say that's pretty obvious. He clearly had a hurt shoulder or clavicle.

You know, I would love to go back to some of the blogs during pre-season and see all the people that said we should send Couturier back to minors for another year of development.... I was one of those that said he should stay because he would learn more at the NHL level...

When I went to the Red Wings Game, i couldn't figure out who was missing in the line up at first and pleasantly surprised to see Wellwood had been called up. With the loss of Nodl, I feel Wellwood could be NHL ready now and could fill Nodl's role. Maybe not play Wellwood nightly but it's great to have him as an opinion. I never could understand how Harry Z could be called up for most of the season over Wellwood. Harry Z has had some PK time but nothing to make him a regular, while a guy like Wellwood actually could be on the PK regularly. I also feel like Harry Z is nothing more then a 4th liner in the NHL anyway, while both Sestito and Wellwood have seen a lot of 3th line action since being called up.

(Yes I'm aware that Harry Z was sent down a while ago).
